Colin McRae Rally 3
Damn, I'm making a lot of topic today :p
Anyway, anyone pick this up recently? I just finished Apex (which by the way, is damned cool, Ridge Racer 4's true sequel if ever there was one), and just now cracked this one open. IGN gave it an 8.9, which is a whole eleven digits higher than their 7.8 for Apex, so hopefully I'll love CM3 even more :)
After playing about 5 min, I've got some issues though; anyone know anything about these?
1. Is it me, or is there no background music during races? If not, that would suck donkeys.
B. Is it me, or is there no custom sound track option? I could've sworn I heard it was in CM3 (as it should be in all XB racers), but I certainly can't find it.
4. Is it me, or is there no freaking rumble? If not, this would also suck copious amounts of donkeys. RalliSport's amazingly accurate rumble that matched engine/terrain was a large part of what made is so immersive, if this doesn't have it, then well, poo to Codemasters.

Damn you bitches hate racing games :p

I have yet to play CM3, but my observation is that you love donkeys.

I love Colin McRae Rally 2.0 (PC) and am looking forward to the third game. As for the lack of music.. part 2 for PC has NO music during the actually rally race (there is music during Arcade races) and I never had a problem with that at all. I'm too busy slipping and sliding around to worry if there is music or not.
If its as good as part 2 then I know I'll like it. Please post more impressions if possible..

So Andy, you picked this up?

i love it, just got it tonight.. and oh man.. it's good. i wish i could adjust car settings for all the makes and brands, but oh well. i still love it. loved the 1st two
but 3 really rocks on the Xbox.

Andy, you are correct on 1 and B but I don't miss music in a rally game either. As for the rumble(4), it seems it only occurs when hitting something. I'm halfway through my third year in championship mode and it keeps getting better. It's a good game that rises above the rest due to two things- 1. Car damage. This needs to be included in almost every racing game!!! B. The different "feel" of all the surfaces. While I still think the handling is a little "floaty", it doesn't take away from the feel especialy in the in car view. Now if only you had your choice of car in championship mode.....

Finally some more people picked it up :)
Anyway, wow, this game is insane  And I mean that in a good way! It takes some real dedication, but after reading the manual a lot, this game is just awesome, it really puts you in the 'zone' the whole time, amazing simulation :D

first impressions sir. kthx :)
I remember when they when Codemasters was raving about Colin at E3 two years ago. I was in this huge cab that is exactly like the car featured on the Colin 3 box (oh, and I have it too...I'll play it later after I finish playing Prime and stuff)

I want to thank Codemasters for a game with real car damage!!! My second race I ran I couldn't keep myself out of the walls. As the race progressed, the front fender had flared out, the passenger side door would not stay closed, and the back windshield blew out. Every time I swung the car hard, the passenger side door would swing open. As the banging got worse, the passenger door came off. The front tire gave way and the rubber came off the back tire. I finished the race at 5 miles an hour with no passenger door, no glass of any kind on the car, sparks on the ground because I had no front driver side tire and no rubber on the back passenger side. The car would not stay on the road. It was fantastic!!
Thanks again for a truly realistic driving game with actual car damage....
