Maybe the main portion of the game is already finished. This game is going to be online right? Is PSO going to be on Sega's servers, or Microsoft's? I have a feeling that the game's biggest delay, is the availability of Server space and getting the code together to run Halo 2's online community.
Microsoft will probably have the servers together by mid next year and then will they release Halo 2. Remember, it took Sega 2 years to get the servers up and running for NFL2k1.
I highly doubt server space would make MS push back what would be their biggest game during the HUGE holiday sales
It has nothing really to do with "servers" I'm sure. The act of making a game like Halo anything as big as that is not simple and is not a direct science where it is easy to get everything right the first run through :/

It's not really easy to get things through on the first run. (look at all the shitty games on their first run. In comparison they're not outweighed by the hits with sequels, right Tracer?
Andrew, Halo is a first person shooter. By Microsoft. Microsoft has been running an online game portal for many, many years, and I can assure you that it has a first person shooter or two. It also happens to have one of the most popular internet game out there (AOE2/AOM). Microsoft also, keep in mind, wrote all the tools that tie all the different Live games together (the friends list, etc.). They know exactly what they are doing and then some.
Servers have NOTHING to do with the delay.

Sega's Shenmue 2 was a huge gaming environment to develope and was a major improvement over the first Shenmue. It did'nt take Sega over 2 years to get that game out. Look at a game like Final Fantasy Online, which did'nt get enough online test time, to make a viable online product. I'm sure Bungie and Microsoft are making sure that this game will have no hic-ups when it goes online. This is just my guess, as I'm sure the game has had plenty of time to be perfected as a single player experience.

It's not as simple to carry over man (GV) - The whole way the game is presented is changed (ala the graphics, models and whatever else) and PLUS Yuji Naka himself said (in an interview) that you can't just add online simultanious play in as an after thought which is basically what would happen should they have just jumped in some enhanced TCP/IP modules into the first.

In what way? IIRC, the word from the beta testers was that the game was better before Square readied it for release. Would that be a case of too much testing? (Or just idiocy?)Quote:

yeah but the thing is I just got a job a few months ago, and while I do spend all my money on video games, I decide it might not be a great investent to spend so much on a system whos only game I really want to play could be loaned to me at leasure by friends at any point down the road... Bassically I decided to wait till Haol 2 came out then borrow Halo later... not the greatest plan but definately the cheapest...Quote:

Man you guys are missing out on some great games. I know it may not have the largest lineup but what is there is enough to make the system worth getting whether halo2 is ready or not.
