You have got to be kidding me about the 2d Metroids being almost unplayable after playing Prime. Super Metroid is still one of the best games ever made.

Agreed about the Metroids - they're too weak, though the Pirates took their place.Quote:

I also want a return to the way the Metroids should be killed, one shot of ice then 5 missiles.
I want doors that take mutiple shots.
You should check out the Euro version - supposedly multi-shot doors are one of its "improvements."
Multiplayer? Gah! Anything but that one! :)
The length was perfect. I'd get annoyed if they made it longer.
As much as I love 2D, and as much as I want to see it come back, Prime was just too good with the 1st person point of view. Keep it like that.
So, it's more connectivity by default.
Fair enough, although I still recommend playing the thousands of other 2D side-scrollers, and the four excellent 2D Metroid games, before wanting Nintendo to abandon the new style they've chosen before even the second game in that style comes out.Quote:

I doubt EA sits down at the beginning of the year and says "We can't do another football game this year because it's been done before."
I love(d) Super Metroid like a child but I could honestly not get into it after playing through Prime twice. It just feels so fabricated and limiting, compared to the environments of Prime. Compare this to, say, Zelda, where I've just played through *three* of the older, 2D games after completing Wind Waker.Quote:

Thank you. Prime is near perfect as it is, and 2D Metroids are almost unplayable after experiencing Prime.
You can't be serious about that.
Prime is a great game, but I still don't think it's as good as the original Metroid or Super Metroid.
The first 2 will always be my favorites. Prime is also a good game, it has no outstanding flaws but it does not do anything particularly amazing for me.:)
I'm with burg on this one. The 2D Metroids seem so very stiff in comparison to Prime. I played through Super recently, and the only time I felt it played anywhere near as well as Prime was after I got the infinate space jump thing. And once you've gotten that you've pretty much reached the end of the game. Super was great for its time, but it's since then it's been outclassed both by Prime and by SOTN.Quote:

I'll go back to Super Metroid after some time and see if my Prime infatuation as worn off, but right now I think the exploration (which IMO is the primary focus of the franchise) is done so much better in 3D that it takes something away from the earlier games that lack this element. I never really cared much for the original but I would like to give it another shot on GC once I can push myself though Fusion and/or I break out the Action Replay.Quote:

And I was as in love with Super Metroid as I was with almost any other game of the 16-bit era, so it's not like I'm short on nostalgia.
More specifically, a 2D sequal to Fusion on the Cube. A 2D Cube Fusion sequal and a 3D Prime sequal would make me quite happy....Quote:

That said, i would like a 2D sequel to FUSION.
...And I have to say I'd still probably be looking forward to the Prime sequal more.
