Thats fucking awesome.
Long-shot for GOTY right here, I think.... after all it is an open field now that HL2 isnt coming out.

IGN didn't help me choose a version. Bastards.
Does the Xbox have a custom soundtrack option?
Is the game even playable on anything besides a PS2-pad due to the need for 4 shoulder buttons?
They said in an interview that the GC controller works better this time around.

Pulling off these moves is a pleasure on the PS2 and Xbox, but less so on the Cube. The lack of four shoulder buttons on the Cube controller means a weird modification button. In general, while EA has done its best to make the game work on GameCube, the controller just doesn't provide enough buttons to do it justice.

Douglass Perry did the review for all the sites, but the cube editors edited out the portion that I quoted up above.
so, why is it better on the xbox? last i checked, it only has 2 shoulder buttons..

Sorry, I'm a bit sleep deprived... :) (two kids will do that to you)
No, the GameCube version looks nicer than the PS2 version. But the PS2 control scheme feels the most natural out of the three -- no question about it. The game was designed with four shoulder buttons in mind, and that's how it works the best. And then there's online play, of course.
Xbox has enough buttons to give a good approximation of the control scheme. And as with Tricky, it looks very nice.
This year's GameCube version is not a slimmed down, slowdown-prone quick port like Tricky. SSX3 on GameCube is really pretty, actually. It's just that the control scheme got altered to use a modifyer button. If you've never played another version of SSX, you probably wouldn't care. But anyone who's used to the four button trick scheme will find the GCN controls inferior.
That said, the game rocks on all three consoles. And yes, SSX3 is a vastly better game than 1080 Avalanche. The latter isn't bad, it's just nowhere as deep and doesn't offer anything SSX3 doesn't do better.
Hope that helps.
Have a good weekend,

PS: AND PLEASE BUY PRINCE OF PERSIA. That game is amazing.
Epmode, I asked the same question you just did in over in the above thread. Someone said that they use the L+R and Y+B buttons. Maybe the black and white buttons are used also?
Yeah, but you could just get one of those cheap converters and use a PS2 pad on Xbox...I'm assuming Xbox versions assigns something to the B & W buttons, and you could just map those to the PS2 shoulders.
Like you all, though, I'm still want to know which version to get. No one really discusses the difference in graphics, and whether Xbox has 5.1 SS or not (which, could be really cool in this game).
i just read the review on ign. damn, i want this game. i think i'll go with the ps2 version for the online mode (though it's only 2 players,) and better controls.
and thanks for the response, spike. i'm surprised i missed that.
I loved tricky, but right now, cant justify buying another game, maybe when it hits the first price drop, psymon will ride again.
...I know what you mean.
*shamefully eyes high-resell value copy of Disgaea*
I need this game...but, no money, and I have a paltry collection to sell things from.
Hmm...maybe I'll go donate an egg.
edit: Damn, no good. Apparently, only girls can do that.
