I find Metroid 1 is hard to go back to because it requires so much patience. 8-bit games tend to be ruthless on the player. I think it's the perfect game to remake since it will likely keep everything great from the original but remove some of the frustration.

Yeah, seriously. I just can't do the original anymore and I'm glad for this. I'd like to see Metroid 2 remade too, though I still find it very playable and fun, I'd like to play it in a way that every area doesn't look exactly the same, and maybe with a map. Maps are nice.

That's exactly the reason why I haven't finished Metroid II yet... (even after all these years)
Nintendo really should do the remake of Metroid II for GBA in the way of Metroid: Zero Mission.

You know, some of us old-timers used to make our own maps back in the day. All you need is some graph paper. No in-game map hardly renders a game unplayable.

I always saw it as part of the fun =D
