Your Favorite Day of Gaming...

The night I bought my Genesis from the Good Guys, in February of 1990. I had more fun that night/morning than any other day of gaming in my life.

My friend and I had a deal, I bought the system, and he would buy two games for it.

The pack in game was Altered Beast, and the two games we picked up were Ghouls'N Ghosts, and Tommy Lasorda Baseball.

We played straight through the night until we had to go to school at 7:00 a.m. GnG took up almost all of our playing time.

I still remember the feeling of awe I had playing Ghouls'N Ghosts, thinking it wasn't possible what I was seeing on the screen because it looked and played so amazingly well. It was such a titanic leap up in gaming from the 8 bit consoles.

So tell us about your favorite day of gaming, surely one day must stand out above all the rest.

November 9, 1983, my 8th birthday.

I woke up to find a Vic 20 computer hooked up to the TV with a game called Serpentine plugged into it. I had been a huge video game fan before this playing games at other kids' houses and arcade games but now I finally had my own machine.

Waited in line at the mall since 9 PM on 9/8/99. Picked up my DC just before 12:30 AM. I skipped all of my classes the next day and played Sonic Adventure, Soul Calibur, and other launch games the whole day.

Memorial Day Weekend 2002
I had all of my closest buddies over for 27 hours of gaming, food, and movies. I had 4 TVs set up- 3 for gaming and one to show movies. A steady stream of pizza, Chinese food, and other foodstuffs was on hand, as was beer and Double Gulps. Best time of my life.

The sheer anticipation of coming home from school knowing that I had a DC and a few games waiting for me. I played the DC non-stop for a week.

I don't recall the date, though it was in 1996. After years of drooling on the arcade units, I finally got my first Neo Geo, complete with Samurai Shodown II & III, Pulstar, Super Sidekicks 3, and King of Fighter '95.

Playing all 3 of these games, Christmas Day 1989.

Either the day I received the Genesis (1989), or the day I bought the Saturn (waited until VF2 was released). In the latter case, I skipped school a few days, marveling at the quality of the game and not believing how close it came to the Model 2 counterpart.

I don't remember the exact day, but one day I got together with 2 of my gaming friends. This was just after the Super Famicom was released, and he just imported one from Japan. He was showing off Super Mario World to us, then afterwards I booted up Streets of Rage on the Genesis, which also just came out. His jaw hit the floor when the intro and that Yuzo Koshiro music started playing, and then he told me he felt like throwing his Super Famicom into the trash right then. Of course I knew he was joking but we all had a big laugh. Man those were some good times.

When I got Goldeneye 64, had friends over and we played it all weekend, it was fun as hell. SO much that they came back the second day of the weekend to play it and try to beat it on Hard.

Also, when I went over to my friend Sandy's house and had a huge LAN game with friends. 8 players.

One of my favorites would be sometime in 96 just playing Raod Rash II on the Genesis. I had played a bunch of times before but I just spent the whole day playing and for some reason it was a lot more fun then. I remember the opening cerimonys of the 1996 olympics were going on that day.

Reminds me that the years 1996 - 1999 were probably the happiest times for me. 2000 was a kick to the face, 2001 was less so, 2002 was moderate (I was ok with that year) and 2003 right now is pretty fucking shitty.
