I've been playing this a lot lately on the GBA, and I'm starting to think it's the best 2D platformer ever. I've got a question for Lucas, or xS, or neozeed, or whoever the hell knows about this kind of stuff: was Miyamoto heavily involved in making the game? It was made late in the SNES life-span, so he was probably working on the N64 at the time, but it's so damn good - Miyamoto must have had something to do with it.
If you don't know the answer, just drop your $.02 on the game.
Miyamoto was producer. although im pretty sure he had a big hand. im pretty sure he was lead designer. he produced Donkey Kong Country, and after seeing what was becoming of that, he scrapped everything that the team had done up to that point, and started from scratch. Yoshi's Island was the results,
as for who directed it, that was Tezuka. i know that Konno and Hino directed too though.
and although i can't say it's the best in the series (that's too hard of a decision), i do think the game has the best style, and presentation out of every game in the series.
it's still very beautiful til this day, and easily one of the best examples ever of a system being pushed to new levels. everything about the game is out of this world. still holds up against the best out there today. the game still amazes me graphically.

If you ask me, Yoshi's Island is the best Mario game ever made. Slightly edges out Mario's 3 and 4.
Yoshi's island would probably be in my top 5 games of all time. The only platformer I prefer to it is Mario 64.

YI is an incredible game. The only Mario game with a real sense of style and art direction, and great boss fights.
Good game to play with the TV/GBA ON MUTE. I swear that baby mario crying was a plea to shut the machine off. :chick:
I'll never understand people's annoyance at baby Mario crying.... It just sounds like a baby crying. Now the voice samples added to Mario Advance on the other hand....
I love Yoshi's Island. It's easily Game of the Year for 1995 and it's one of the best games ever.
In an interview with Miyamoto a long time ago he said that YI was more Tezuka's creation than his.

This is probably my favorite Nintendo game of all time. And its sequel is probably the most dissapointing game of all time.
