Just out of curiosity, did Sony actually advertise that these would be the new PS2 systems? I know a lot of Web sites reported during E3 that the newer systems would be included, but I don't ever recall Sony themselves running any ads or promotions saying that these would be the new systems. If the model number was printed on the box, then there's nothing to dispute.

it's what kaz hirai stood up on stage and said at the E3 press conference. i was there.

unless my memory is faulty, he was referring to this bundle pack as including the new model -- otherwise he just talked about them back to back or something.

Even the manager at the EB store was told this was the case by the Sony rep, yet this didn't happen. Too bad for the people (read:suckers) that ended up paying $125+tax CDN for a network adapter.
