Personally, I think he's doing better than ever.
I think it's pretty damn funny that one of the first posts in this thread were comending on the older maturity level and less vicous flaming and yet it's turned into quite a heated, drama filled debate.
Anyway, I like Play because they give a love of coverage to games that probably wouldn't get much space in other mags. I don't mind the anime coverage either as I do watch to occasional movies/series.
I do have one wish for Play though. I think that they should hire a few more writers. Halverson writes practically every review and preview!

Considering the guy is still writing strategy guides that are obviously being bought and read, it's painfully apparent that people are still reading what he writes - despite what you are trying to infer.:bang:

A majority of people that are buying strat guides are buying them because of the game it covers, not because of who writes it.
