In fact, he even said that the games he enjoys are falling out of favor with the general public, so I'd assume that even he realizes that he can't sell a magazine with his taste in games. It may not be his name that drives people away from the magazine, but his taste in games. He realizes this, I think.
You said that people are buying strategy guides with his name on it... yes... strategy guides. Strategy guides != magazines. Read what I wrote again... I specifically said "magazines".
Like I said, Im happy that he seems to be doing decent. I really dont have any malice for the guy. However, facts are facts. He's headed the ship on two failed magazines, two magazines which touted basically the same old-school hardCORE line. Nobody buys those anymore... except for TNL of course.
Next Gen failed, Gamer's Republic failed, hell, a TON of magazines have failed - for you to insinuate that the sole cause of either GameFan or GameGO failing being ECM's readership or writing skill is just plain ignorant. GameFan and GameGO failed for different reasons, but most of those reasons were marked by either a gross abuse of finances or a woeful lack of finances. Neither failed because ECM was at the helm and there was interest enough in both magazines for them to be successful had circumstances been different.
