Need some help
Im trying to install a network card on my computer in the other room. Now, I don't have the Windows 98 cd so I was hoping someone here had a file called "netpci.cat" on their computer. Please please let me know if you do. I cant find it anywhere to download on the net.

I hate how Win98 ALWAYS asks for the CD when changing any networking properties. Annoys the hell outta me.
As for the file, I don't have it.

Try pointing Windows to look in \windows, \windows\system, \windows\system32 or the driver disk for that file. Often, the files will be in Windows already, but it thinks it needs to copy them again.

yeah, found it thanks. I might need some more help later though.
Alright, what about "net.cat" ?

If Windows 98 came pre-installed on the computer (and you haven't formatted/reinstalled), try looking in C:\windows\options\cabs\ for the files it wants.

Also, if you get a hold of a Windows 98 CD, it's good practice to make a copy of it on you HD...then you just point it to that directory anytime it needs something off the CD.

Isn't it great how people are still using Windows 98 instead of XP. It could be a sign of things to come. Their Longhorn spy crap OS might not fly so easily. I still use Win 98 by the way.
I usually just dump the CD in to a directory and point to that directory every time I need maintenance.
