In the background, that's actually an extended cab Dodge dually out of the early-late nineties.
The story of the wreck is actually pretty crazy. read it here
Yikes, reminds me of the time I jumped in my Altima and chased a driveoff halfway down the road. They still got away but man, was it a rush
It was a bit harsh for him to stoop to something like that, I really can't say how I feel about it, and it's really hard to know HOW to feel unless you were that owner. I worked at my parent's service station for years on end, and took it personally whenever someone tried drive-off without paying for their gas. When you're a small business owner like that, it's hard to take people violating your livelihood like that lying down.
Exactly. You can't use deadly force unless deadly force is used against you.Quote:

This is interesting.
Over here there was a story about a farmer who woke up in the middle of the night and saw two guys in his house, loading stuff into a big bag. PAnicking, he picked up his gun and shot at both of them, killing one (I believe the dead one was 17) and injuring the other.
He got put down for, I think, manslaughter. Remember that this was in his own house, though.
However, now the OTHER guy is suing the farmer for loss of earnings, and it's his human right to have the case heard at the European Supreme Court. Loss of earnings - this is a heroin dealer whose never held down a real job in his life and who makes money through drugs and stealing.
What would your stand be on something like this? Personally, I'm not too enamoured by Peter here, but I think that, once someone breaks into your house then all bets are off.
FREE PETER!!
rmv, in your example, I don't think the crook has any real right to sue. He broke into the guy's home, and I believe that once you are in someone's home without their permission, you have the right to do whatever is needed to remove them from your property.
I don't care how free it is, I don't want it.Quote:

Peter's mistake was letting the guys of his property. In many states, for instance, if a burglar breaks into your home, you can kill the son of a bitch without fear of prosecution. However, you better not let him even onto your front lawn, or you have broken the law.
I'll say this. If anyone is ever stupid enough to break into my house, the coroner is going to need dental records to identify the body.
He did the right thing running them bums down. All those of you who sympathize with people breaking into homes and getting away with it as long as they don't hurt the owner are full of shit. You can't wait for someone to use force against you to be justified to use it against them in a robbery situation. If he's on your property, I say shoot first and ask questions later. Worry less about his feelings than your own safety. I would even say that it extends to someone stealing or vandalizing your car(which is technically outside your home). Peter should get a medal for actually doing what 90% of us wished they could do in a situation like this.
