I'm probably going, most likely entering in the C class (novice) and very likely will get my head handed to me.
Still, the way I figure it, $10 for what amounts to a ton of pinball fun is okay with me.
I'm not sure if there's any pinball fans in here, let alone ones big enough who'd want to travel to a tournament, but I figure I'd ask anyways.

I defineatly won't be making it to the tournament, but it's great to see appreciation for the good old silverball. I hope to own a pinball machine or 2 sometime in the future.
I love pinball. As of lately I try to play at least once a week. There's a bunch of places to play around here so it's not that hard a commitment to keep.
I don't know if it's true or not, but I've been told that Pittsburgh was the Pinball Capital of the World for a while.
Probably still is, technically...don't know if anyone took it's crown.
At any rate, I was checking out some of the top local players scores yesterday. My best game was 6,000,000 points lower than the worst person's score.
Granted, it was a woman and I couldn't enter thier division. I was something like 25,000,000 behind the worst guy (on that table) and had 1/10th the score of the #1 guy.
So the way I reckon it, I'd get slaughtered by the locals, let alone the cream of the tournament.
If I had ample time to play one machine, I could master it and probably rank up there, but the last time I had access to one pinball machine for extended periods of time, was the pinball machine my old man had at the house. By the end of a year, I was rolling the numbers on that machine on a whim. I play Last Gladiators on the Saturn every once in a while and when I was playing it on a constant basis, I could put my score in the billions on a couple of the tables.
The most recent pinball machine I've played, was a South Park machine in New Jersey. It was alright, but really lacked any ingenuity and was'nt a great representation of excellent pinball.
I'd love to go as pinball is a passion of mine. I've made a vow that the very first cabinet I purchase will be either a Creature from the Black Lagoon, or Batman. Those two games are remarkably fun.
But alas, I'll not be attending. Maybe next year.

The event is actually far enough in the future that I may actually be able to plan for it. Scorekeeper Volunteer may be more up my alley, though.
Star Wars Pinball 2000 was the last table I put any time into. But a freind just introduced me to the new Simpsons machine, it's just a matter of finding one locally.
..eh, it's rainy today.. maybe I'll go see if University Pinball has one sandwitched between their redemption machines.
I'm a HUGE pinball fan, and I play any table I come across on my travels. Unfortunately, pinball in my area is in a sad state, as all you can find are either crappy Stern tables (Williams/Bally FOREVER!), or tables that are in such disrepair that it would bring a tear to your eye. This the main reason why I think Visual PinMAME is a gift straight from god, and is the best freeware program EVAR!!!!!1
I would kill to go there, as with any pinball fan gathering, but that's a bit too far for me, and I wouldn't be able to set aside any free time

I love pinball, I plan on owning one sometime in the future as well. Now that I have pinmame, where can i find the tables? All the places I've checked aren't up anymore.

This is pretty much where the "community" is located. Unfortunately, you have to register to do pretty much anything on the site, and I'm not sure if it'll even let you download without being a member.
