Well, Sorry to hear that 88, but you should know better than to keep ANY expensive items in your car. At least when you do that always cover them up, so they just wont sit there tempting would be robbers.
I personally has been lucky without any instances of theft, and I hope it continues to be the same.

This fat bitch called "babs" used to rummage through everybody's rubbish and take any magazines that she found. Our neighbour got sick of it, so she got her dog to do a shit, rolled it up in a magazine, and put it in her recycling bin. I didn't see what happened, but the fat bitch stopped doing it shortly after.
Were I you 88 I'd file a police report anyway... it wouldn't take too long either and who knows maybe something will turn up. I'd have also asked around some neighbors too see if anyone witnessed anything. Do you have any suspicions as to who could have done this?

As far as guns go, I can't get my CCW license til I turn 21 (5 months) but you can bet your ass I will. I own several firearms and goto the range with some regularity.
I was waiting for a bus transfer, and this guy walks up. Says he needs a bit of change for the bus. No problem - I give him a quarter. While we're waiting, he says he needs to phone someone to let them know he's running late. So I offer him use of my cellphone. No biggie.
Until he gets off the phone, and says, "you know, I'm gonna keep this."
"No you're not."
"Hey man! Back off! I have had a job in months, I'm living in the streets! YOu don't want to mess with me," as he reaches in his pants pocket and starts fumbling with something.
"Okay, so you're down on your luck, but you still can't have that phone."
"Really, it's that important to you?"
"Yes."
"Hmmmm...40 bucks and you can have it back."
"40?! What the hell?"
"HEY MAN! Don't make me do something I don't want to..." as reaches in the pocket again.
So after arguing it out, he gets the last 20 in my wallet and I get my phone back. It was all so bizarre; after he even hung out to wait for his bus. Thank goodness it wasn't mine. If it wasn't for him reaching for who-knows-what, maybe I would've wrestled the phone back.
