What if you like some and hate others? FFVII had awesome design philosophy in everything except the characters (barring Rufus, who was a total pimp) but was otherwise a giant pot of typicality; FFVIII had some seriously gimped-out writing and bitch characters but was far more entertaining; FFIX was just incredible; and FFX is one of the worst RPGs I've played in my life (aside from the sweet-as-hell battle system). So... am I cool or not?

I do rather enjoy how when people bash a game that is mainstream, those who like it will immediately jump to the conclusion that the people who don't are those who hate everything mainstream just because it's mainstream. Funny that.

I was actually thinking the same thing. I don't think everyone who hates FF7 hates it because it's maintstream, but that mentality does exist, and sometimes you can spot it.

I don't care if anyone hates FF7, but I also don't understand why FF6 is viewed as infinitely better. That's a whole 'nother matter altogether, though.

I have no problem with Raiden being a homosexual, it's mainly the whole "I live on through this arm!" and badly written GitS-ripoff sections that bother me.

I'm sure a remake would make tons of money. But in my opinion, FF7 hasn't withstood the test of time the same way earlier games in the series have, which is why so many people want a remake. After all, if the game was really as good as people remember, they'd just whip out their PSX FF7 disc and play it on their PSOnes or PS2's instead of wanting a revamped game with better graphics, etc.

Metal Gear Solid sold a shitload of copies as well, and they're remaking that. But the difference is that although a MGS remake is cool, the original game has withstood the test of time (some people still think it's better than the sequel), and as a result, there wasn't an entire segment of gamers begging for a revamp when the Gamecube remake was announced, even though a MGS remake would benefit a lot more from being on a more powerful system than FF7 would.

Hell, in nearly every FF-related thread, there's always a few posts saying that Square should remake FF7. Go play the original game I say. It's not even very old.

If Square does plan on making a sequel to FF7 (as opposed to a remake), I'll take a wait and see approach until more information about it becomes available.

I love FF7, but I'm still man enough to admit that the graphics are less than stellar. So of course I would want a graphical rehaul. Do I need it? No. But it sure would be cool as hell.

I hope this doesn't happen.

Bleh. I found FF7 to be the last FF game I enjoyed in the series and if they're gonna make a sequel, I don't want to play it on a tiny handheld with ugly fuck PSx graphics. Call me a graphics whore but it's all just lame.

If I have to buy one of these damn things just to play freaking FFVII-2....
