The Lloyd and Collette thing was too sappy, you're right. Collette in general was too cuddly of a character. But then so was Mint, and I loved her. But Mint was off-set by Arche, and Collette didn't have that. Still, Zelos, Shihna, and Refil are better than any of the Eternia cast.

Rid and Farah were fun to watch, but the Ranma/Akane relationship has been so done to death I didn't really like it that much. I really did have fun with the Symphonia cast. It was a large group but they were fairly well developed compared to most RPGs with large casts, since you could keep parties larger than the number of characters selectable in battle.

i think if they had written lloyd and collette out of the game and concentrated on the secondary characters they would have had something there. kratos, zelos, raine (refill) are all cool. though raine's use of corporal punishment didn't, i think, translate well. i liked genis, but too many of the stupid plot twists toward the end of the game revolved around him. it's just one of those games where you see something obvious happening that you know the characters should be aware of.. but they're not.

i probably sound more down on the game than i really am. i actually recommended it to a friend today to buy, instead of other games. and i'm recommending it to people over star ocean 3, although not without some caveats (in the cases of both games.)

i am so bleeding impatient for this game to hit....

According to a recent IGN faq, the game doesn't support progressive scan:/

How many people do you get on your team in total?
This game looks awesome.

Looks like 10 in all, and 4 can be in a battle at a time.

I'm just wondering what the reception will be like in the US? It's the only real big-RPG to be realeased on GameCube, and there's a fair number of GC owners. Will a lot of them plunk down for this as just any excuse for an RPG fix?
