Dance Dance Revolution questions

Chux and Ste-von, I sent you both PMs that you can disregard. I actually read Ste-von's post earlier and it said exactly what the pad was. The dick at my local Gamestop was too dumb to read the box properly and told me they didn't have the Naki DPR2 but they had one made by Instinct. After doing a little research I deduced that it was made by Naki and that dumb ass couldn't read. It says Instinct across the top center of the box so he didn't even look any further. Thanks for all the info guys. This shit is alot harder then I thought it would be.

If you want to get into home DDR and are serious about it. stay away from pads that are like 10-20$ since those are awful. Get the konami or redoctane pads like slip mentioned earlier. or go for some metal pads.

This is true.

DDR at home has never been much fun for me. I'd much rather go to an arcade but if that isn't an option then I guess home pads aren't unplayable.

Personally, I want to get into home IIDX play.

Seriously, I've played with my cheap $20 pad for about 5 hours now and really is better than the official Konami pad. It slips about 90% less and it's slicker on top so I can slide my feet easier. I think I'm gonna mod it this week, though.

hmm... maybe I should've been a little more specific. Its great that your pads working :). but by 10-20$ pads i meant these abominations:

If you absolutely must get into DDR then the Xbox is the way. Download Stepmania plus all the songs you like and buy a Konami mat, just don't buy that Ultramix crap.

Well i was planning on getting DDR for xbox (read: no psx [DOH!] or ps2) but are there like, dancepads for computer? Ah nevermind the screen would only be like 21'' as opposed to a big screen, not really worth it eh?

I made my own metal pad. It's not as good as the arcade, but it's the closest thing I've played on.

I've played DDR on 19" screens, it's not exactly a game that needs an intense visual setup. Having one for the PC would be nice because of importing any song you could possibly want right then and there, but I don't know of any PC dancepads off-hand. The make beatmania controllers for it, so I suppose you've got a good chance.

PS Dance pad + PC Magic Box = StepMania
