Got what he deserved? His dad could've fucked up a modchip installation just as easily...Quote:
From what JM and Dyne said, it sounds like you got what you deserved, Sl1p. Hope you learned a lesson. Next time just use a mod chip.

I have to agree there. However, I do think that if you're going to run a risk, you might as well get something that plays EVERY game.
Sorry about your loss.
From the sounds of it this flip top crap is extremely unreliable...if he had done his homework, he would have realized that and perhaps gone with a mod chip instead, which has a much, much higher success rate.Quote:

Still, maybe I was a tad hard on him. It dowes suck that his PS2 is dead.
I am sorry to hear about what happened to Sl1p... but I still plan on getting a fliptop. One unfortunate story is not going to scare me away. I have read about plenty of people using them with no problems. I have heard plenty of people's mod chip problems anyway so it's no worse. The people who tend to bash the fliptop seem to be the people who have already spent a lot of money on an import system or a costly mod-chip + installation. As far as I am concerned the fliptop is still much much cheaper and easier. As long as it's compatible with the 3D Ages games, I'll probably get one eventually.
Well, it's your system & money, but at least be sure that the games you want to play are compatiable. It will also be a crap shoot as to whether or not any games you are going to want in the future will work with it.
JM
Same can be said for a mod chip. I don't doubt that Sony already has some sort of Anti-Mod Scheme in the works. A J-Ps2 is still the best (Albeit most expensive) bet.Quote:

The only imports which don't work have multiple executibles on the disc. Psyvariar boots up, runs through the intro, and goes to the menu where you select the arcade or revision game. This is the point where it needs to check region again and kills the game. This also happens with DDP: DOJ when you select Death Label (the main game is playable).
If the rumored Psyvariar budget release of Revision only does occur, it shouldn't have this problem.
As for other games that have a problem with the flip-top, well, if you're buying your games you shouldn't have a problem.
And I have no idea how your Dad messed up the installation Slip. I had never opened a console up before installing mine...
Edit
If you have the resources, get a modchip or a JPS2. If you want a cheap solution, this works.
Exactly the point. People like Dolemite are just being retarded.Quote:

I didn't want to chip my system to play a single game. I never planned on importing another game since I hate language barriers, but Iniital D is way too good to pass up.
At least I don't have your faggy avatar.Quote:

Gee, you're mean. I said that I was too hard on you...now I'm glad your PS2 broke! GLAD! BWA-HA-HA-HAAAA...
Your mother wears army boots? That insult was on par with a Tyler_Durden post (Does he still exist?), I expect more from you.Quote:

I got my estimate back, 44.95. Cheaper than I thought.
