seems to be an auto draft...adjust your player preferences and it will draft the highest ranking player still available.Quote:

In my opinion, that's a stupid way to draft. I'd rather see it done like it's done in the NFL with each team picking a player based on what's out there. I mean the list is a good guide, but I'd prefer a more hands-on approach. Sorry for the rant.

Some systems have the option for a live draft, and if you haven't selected a player (which means you're not there for the live draft), it picks from your list. Is that a possibility here? I am having difficulty putting things in a good order. I mean, I can't really rank a ton of great QBs with a ton of great RBs. It is nice to have the option for a live one because I can see who's gone, and what the draft trends are (if I draft last, and almost everybody ahead of me picks a QB, I better do the same, and since I get the very next pick, I will want to snag the best RB there is). Or for example, if I draft in the middle and everyone has snagged an RB already, I might use my first pick on the best QB there is instead of taking the best available RB, which I can get on the flip side when the draft goes in reverse and lets me pick again. Or hey--I might go with a defense in the second round if I feel that everyone else is drafting crappy ;p
I think an email draft is the best way to do it, with a time limit for each pick. If the time expires, either the computer assigns a pick, or if there's an option to do so, takes the next player from someone's draft list. Of course, if you were to do this you'd need to bump the start of the draft up from the 29th.
It's too difficult to get everyone together online for a live draft, and auto drafts can get you weird results - ie., you either get 4 QBs or none.
Yeah, that's much like a live draft except it takes a lot longer. 14 teams, 15 picks per (or thereabouts)...that's a lot of picks. The only drawback to the live draft is that everyone has to be there if they want the best picks (although like you said, you get assigned a pick based on your list). The default list isn't bad, plus we can trade. I was just throwing it out as making everyone go by a list is a pain. If I really want a QB first, I'm going to load up the top of the list with QBs. The problem is that most people might pick RBs, so I get two really good QBs, only one of which I can use. Sure, there are trades, but looking at the roster, it looks like you can play up to FIVE RBs a week! So people will want to hold onto those.
That's a lot better than this occuring:Quote:

I only see three RB's a week. Where do you see five?Quote:

I prefer a live draft. Every league I participate in has one, and like Bob said, even if someone's not present, the draft defaults to your pre-rankings anyway. Can we get a final pronouncment on this issue just so we know how to alter our draft strategy to consider situations such as the one Bob mentioned above?
