Yikes, I'm on stage 28, & my character is only at level 17! I guess I should go back & work on my destruction & souls freed rate before I go any further.

Probably a good idea. I'm on stage 10, and I'm already leveled up to 14 (yep, a whole bunch of replays). Of course, this strategy may backfire when I attempt the 300-hit combo and I'm killing everything with one hit.Quote:

Almost forgot to mention that this light wave can also destroy things so maybe I will use it occasionally.
There are five souls on stage 7 (boat stage). Two are in crystals on a island right before the ship with all the bells. The other three are in large masts that pass close to your ship. Don't bother with objects some distance away.
Make sure you kill the hydra before the final boss!
This is important because otherwise you'll pass up the hydra sword, which is the coolest weapon in the game. It's making my replay a lot more interesting, almost an entirely new game. Because its weak hit is just like its strong one, which is the most powerful attack outside the moonlit sword, which means you wreck buildings at combo speeds, but there's a big catch to it. Using the sword drains all but a tiny bit of your life, meaning if you ever get even the slightest scratch you'll die instantly and have to do the level over. Make sure to equip it with the bell of clensing to avoid fire, which will also kill you.
I love this game. :)
It seems that you can get the big combo with butterfly magic no matter what level you're on, but I haven't tried it myself. I wanted to leave it for the replay. I'd say go for it now though since for the replay you actually start at the level you left off on.Quote:

How'd you manage to free all souls on the escort and hydra stages?!?!?
Me too, me too.Quote:

Hydra I got all but one first time by blind luck I guess. The last one is in a candle on the ceiling after the cut scene. I saw it during one of my tries on the hydra and guessed that was it.Quote:

The bitch was getting all the souls on the remixed fire temple stage. I think one or two were in glass shards because I wrecked everything but them first and came up short. The low gravity makes it harder to wreck things too. Grrr.
Ah, OK. Doesn't seem too bad. I figured that being levelled up and having all the mercy orbs would make the revisits easier, and I'm sure I'll reach level 31 along the way. I'm only missing 100% on a couple stages, but I want to try and get all the items too - a rare thing for me with games of this type. I'm usually satisfied by just beating it, but not with Otogi.
i should be getting this game in the mail today..
color me excited.

I had no interest in this game, but I was surprised to read a few impressive reviews recently. The screens look nice. The gameplay sounds fun. Then I read through this thread and what can I say, the game sounds really really good.
It's nice to have another reason to buy an Xbox eventually. :)
It's a great game, sggg.
I haven't gotten as far in as these guys have, but I'm itching to. They way they make some of these levels sound is amazing.
I want to pick this up soon, it looks really good and I hope it sells well enough to get the sequel released here because I really want that one :D
