I'm from the school of thought that says "variety is the spice of life," especially in a shmup where each ship should has its own atributes.

You absolutely can't be serious.Quote:

Shine: Recently Cave games (though I can't speak for Ketsui -- seven?) have been using a two ship + modifier system, as I mentioned earlier.
So you get two basic ship types -- wide and spread like in DOJ and Progear, for instance -- which can be further modified by selecting a doll/pilot. Only two ships, yes, but a variety of playing styles are accounted for nonetheless.
Don't get me wrong it's all dependant on the game mechanics and how the ship(s) plays within those mechanics. Hell, I coulnd't see much of a difference in the ships speed DDP, but that was a game where a faster ship might have been a hinderance, but there was a huge difference in their firing paterns. As for Gradius and R-Type those game used power up systems that added depth and customability so one ship was all you needed. I'm not saying that ESP Galuda will be a shallow experience but if both characters play practically the same (I'd say that there wasn't too noticable difference between the three you had in ESPrade but it's been awhile since I last played) then they might as well just make it one character.
Thus my point is made.Quote:

Anyways. I freaking love ESP ra.de. Extremely happy to hear a sequal is on the way..crossing fingers for console release.
Except Shikigami was popular in Japanese arcades for years and more people play Shikigami 2 than Ketsui :rolleyes:Quote:

I'm tired of the Cave mould, it's my fucking opinion yet as usual the nazi shooter police are out in force. If this game has new ideas i'll be the first to sing its' praises but if it consists purely of dodging masses of random pink sprites and the DDP A-B-C ships in disguise then no thank you.
Actually my comment was in response to something he posted about Mojib-Ribbon and was in refferance to software, not hardware. But your hearts in the right place so carry on.Quote:

Assuming your point is that you're an idiot: granted.Quote:

Sidez: don't misunderstand -- I love Shikigami. But the game is seriously derivative of the same company you're bashing for supposedly stale game design.
I like Cave, I really do but for me they've gone stale, simple as that. Shikigami's inspiration is blatantly Cave but Alfa System add a lot of new ideas to keep the genre fresh. Far from going on about something I know nothing about, it's just like, my opinion man.
Not quite but atleast you're listening. What I'm saying is that what I have to go one here isn't much. So far all I know about this new game is that it has two characters, and that it's damn pretty to the eyes. Two isn't much but like you said in your post: "two ship + modifier system" would be fine with me, so long as they keep to that I'm fine with only two selectable fighters.Quote:
