I couldn't stand the game after a week. Though a bit of my distaste for the game is largely influenced by a fellow I used to play , that would cry incessently after each loss. Temper tantrums after "smack talk" or whatever the hipsters call it these days, etc. . .Quote:

I just wanted to say that Ninja Gaiden in the arcade was awsome. I liked it way better than the NES version. Two players is more fun than one. Plus it was just cooler.
I'm not sure how accurate I am about this, but I always felt the NES Double Dragon titles had more solid control/gameplay than their arcade counterparts.Quote:

I dunno, maybe you guys played Contra on a busted up arcade machine. It seemed pretty much the same except the arcade version had better graphics. I didn't really play Super C cause it's the worse game in the true series(the PSX versions don't count). Finished it once and never played it again, so I wouldn't know the differences.
My two cents:
The NES version of Contra (especially the Japanese Famicom version) was superior to the Arcade in my opinion. It seems alot more polished and complete in comparison.
I though the Arcade and NES versions of Super Contra. I liked the Arcade version more though because of the badass intro and the fact that it had upgradeable weapons (a feature missing in the NES game), but the NES version did had extra levels.
The Arcade version of DD2 was awesome by itself, but I've always preferred the NES version. The Arcade DD2 always felt more like an upgrade than a sequel with it's recycled levels. Plus, I always preferred the happier ending in the NES version.
I don't see how anyone would enjoy the AC Ninja Gaiden over the NES one.
The NES verson of Contra STOMPS the arcade version. Play controll on the arcade board is just plain sluggish and loose. The whole game is tight as a drum on the NES.
As for Ninja Gaiden in the arcade....I don't think it is physically possible to win that last level. Ugh does that game get cheap. The first 2 or 3 levels are great beat 'em up fun though. But chalk one up for the flawless NES version anyway.
Hell, my Nintendo still works. Play a quick game of Duck Hunt from time to time and it still kicks ass.
Strider, Rygar... there were a lot of games on the NES that were changed from the arcade version to accomodate the weaker console, but often superior. I think it's the only console that has that distinction.
How long did you play the arcade game for? I used to play it at the arcade, and it wasn't as good as the NES game. It also has about half the levels.Quote:

Ninja Gaiden was also crap in the arcade. The NES versions are far better-made games.
Arcade Strider, however, was a much cooler arcade game. But the NES one was totally different anyway, and cool for what it was.
