Star Wars: Republic Commando

aww damn, silly me didnt search the threads for a Republic Commando one from a year ago.

I played the demo off the KOTOR II disc a week or so ago and it seemed interesting. Not $50 interesting, especially considering the other games on my plate at the moment, but enough so that I'll definately pick it up at some point. Plus I'm a whore for decent Star Wars games.

I did find it hysterical that the mini-boss or whatever big droid thing in the demo was apparently built by people that hadn't planned on its adversaries to have the ability to walk in circles. All I did was run up to point blank range and stay behind it, walking in circles around it whenever it tried to turn towards me. Took a while because I was out of ammo and had to peck at it with my weak recharging pistol but it eventually died without ever touching my squadmates or I. Nice design job, there.

As far as the review reports, it's going to take place between movies II and III. It was mentioned that this isn't going to be a "heroic" type game either, meaning no Jedi, no Han Solo swooping in to save the day, etc. It's going to be gritty, dark, and threatening. I like threatening.

It was also mentioned that they'll be getting Jango Fett himself (Temuera Morrison) to voice the clone troopers, with a few sound-alikes for variety. They cite the fact that identical twins never sound the same as a valid reason for this.

It's supposed to release this Fall. I'll be there day one.

It's a awsome game BTW.

I was so excited over the trailer of this at gametrailers.com that I wet myself at some point. Hearing these "It's good but not GREAT" reviews has me disappointed. I'll get it when it drops in price.

I just finished this. Aside from feeling some serious deja vu via the story suddenly ending, I can't say I can find much wrong with this game at all. Some of the enemies are hard to kill, but when you use proper team tactics they become much easier. All I'm gonna say is there had better be a Republic Commando 2 waiting for me on May 24 or whenever the movie comes out, there are some serious loose ends I want to clear up.

To owners of widescreen tvs: It's been confirmed that this game does not support 480p when the X Box is set to 16:9 in the dashboard. The only way to play this game in 480p is to play fullscreen. Yeah, it sucks. Hopefully they will release a patch for this.

Thats odd, because I'm playing in widescreen and its running in 480P. Pretty sure I didnt download any updates.
