ESPN NFL Football

I have lots of soundtracks and have had no problem with the jukebox.

I love this series, but thought 2K2 was dissapointing and that 2K3 was easilly the worst of them all. I was skeptical this year to say the least.

After playing a few games of the XBox version tonight I have to say I'm really impressed with this game. They fixed every problem I had with previous games. No longer will premier receivers drop 5 wide open passes a game. They got rid of the terrible pseudo-spin move from last year, and gave us running moves that are intuitive and effective. The running game is really solid this year, and it's a blast to play.

Also they finally got the defensive line moves right. No one gets caught in vacuum blocks anymore. You can use a wide variety of moves to fight through them.

The animation is incredible, and better yet it feels as fluid and responsive as it looks. Gang tackles, side line catches, powerful stiff arms; it all looks great. In previous games I sometimes felt like I was just stringing animations together, with loss of control in between. This year control is always responsive and smooth.

It's also worth noting that the game moves pretty fast this year shich is definitely a nice change compared to some of the slower moving additions in the past.

Earlier in this thread people where questioning the challenge system. I thought it was strange, but it's implemented really well. In one game I returned a kickoff about 70 yards, tip toeing down the sideline for the last 20. The opposing team challenged the play, and sure enough on the replay my toe was out of bounds about 20 yards before I got tackled. They moved me back. Sure I lost 20 yards, but it felt fair and even better it felt realistic.

The Crib feature is great, and it's fun as hell when you start unlcoking stuff. The SEGA sountracks and posters and special free agents are really cool. It's well implemented and really keeps you wanting to play.

Just is case anyone is wondering First Person Football is absolutely miserable and a complete waste of time. I'm just glad the time they spent on it didn't hurt the rest of the product.

This is by far the best playing and most polished game in the entire NFL2K series. Pick it up so SEGA doesn't shitcan the best football series in existance.

Heh, that sounds an awful lot like the first post in this thread. I'm definitely going to try and pick this up in the next 3 or 4 days.

After a handful if games im really impressed with how they balanced things out. especially since the new animations arent there just for show, gang tackling looks good and is very neccesary in some situations. i like how DB's dont make outrageos leaps for int's anymore and they way the can scoop a ball off the groundd or dice for a pick makes it more balanced out.

only few things are bugging me though. before i could be the reciever and easily catch a bal, now that window to catch the ball is much smaller making it hard to do the receiver tricks i could in past years =(. also averge recievers seem to have a hard time making routine plays and over the sholder catches with not soo good recievers are near impossible.

I tried playing a coulple games online.
First games i was winning so of course some message about a disvergence in the signal poped up.

2nd game i was begging to pull away like to 21 nothing so they guy dropped. heh he was the bucs to and i was running and passing all over him with my giants.

3rd game, me vs 2 people, im thinking im gonna get punked but HA!! i was a bout to make it 19 to 0 in the second quarter and what happens they FREAKIN DROP!!!

Whats worse is that the get a drop but i get nothing. a forfeit should eqaul me getting a win!! ant least on madden if someone drops you can still get a win. Im really finding that anoying, really how hard is it to give the forfieter a loss and the other a win.

Dont know if i want to play online again untill they do finally do something about that, but if anyone here want to get owned by me lemme know =D

A lot of people are having problems with the game, either no video or no sound. Some people were able to fix the video problem by changing the xbox dash settings from normal to widescreen (then changing it back after it would boot with video). I have no video, and changing the settings didn't work for me. I also had this problem with the xbox magazine demo of espn football.

Some people thought it was a glitch left from removing the 720 res support.

They took it out? Lame!

There are 2 theories on why my Crib music won't work:

Theory one is that you can't have over 125 songs on the HD, or it won't work.

Theory two is that it wont work with systems from launch day.




You guys can help dispell the myths. If one of you has a newer Xbox, and over 125 songs on the HD, test it out, and see if it works or not. And if one of you guys has a launch system, and only a few (or none even) songs on your HD, see if it works or not.


Your help will be greatly appreciated.



PS. I can't believe Sega hasn't gotten back to me yet! I wrote them on Wednesday afternoon.

Ok, I guess that kinda sounded like whining, since it's only been like 3 and a half days, but the last time I had a customer service question for Sega (Panzer Dragoon Orta) they got back to me before the day was over.
