Collecting Star Wars Toys

I used to be really into collecting the new Star Wars action figures the small ones and the 12 inch ones. It got to be way too expensive trying to aquire all the exclusive boxed sets and what nots. Don't get me wrong I loved it but the problem I felt with collecting action figures was there were always too many scalpers that would hoard lots of rare figures and or camp out at stores to get the scarce ones. That got old after awhile. The other thing is I found it really hard to find C-10 speciemans of the carded figures I wanted. To make a long story short I sold my collection for a major loss. Not sure if I'll ever get back into it, but I found Video games to be slightly less expensive and it doesn't take up as much room. I also stopped collecting comics too. Collecting is fun but it has its downsides.

Anyone collect or stop like I did?

and one time at toy works we got like 10 cases of the fuck ups that came on the green card when they were supposed to be on the orange card. My boss wouldn't let us touch them yet when i was in, so needless to say i didn't get any, and they are all worth like $100+

Yeah those variants were crazy, were not always good for the hobby. I got the Theatre edition Luke and rabid fans were trying to pay big bucks to get it off me.

Well, I always was a collector of things. Coins, Stamps, Matchboxes, etc.

Most recent collecting habits are movies and game guides. I try not to go overboard though, and keep things within my budget. Got to feed to family, you know :lol:

I collect massive amounts of things. Orginal TF comics, any anime comic that is cheap, tank girl comics, witchblade or darkness (if found really cheap).

Anything Robotech or macross. Some of the cool stuff would be orginal unbuilt 80's models, and a 1.5 foot tall transforming SDF-1

Transformers. I have sense sold many of my lose ones but I still have a few gems such as the orginal fortress maximus. At 2 feet tall, or bigger, I refer to it as Minime. The thing is massive, you could beat small children and seals to death with it.

Books. Not rare books, but books on anything I might feel I'd enjoy. I have stacks everywhere.

LOTR figures, mainly gimly and Legolas. I have all the box sets except for the green one. The 12" legolas. And all the 6" ones except for the one that didn't come with a skateboard. I pretty much picked 2 characters I liked and went with that. It would be insane to try and get everything.

Anything Short Circuit. Got the movies, a few magazines, and two crew jackets owned by the movie crews. The SC2 jacket is pretty sweet if you like vintage 80's.

Star Wars. I used to be bigger on it than I am now. I still have a lot of the first movie release toys, and a few of the first stuff that was released during the second release but other than hunting down yodas, i don't buy a lot of new sw stuff. The collection has also been thinned through out the years. Also me and my dad share a collection of orginal boxed toys. We have a mint Y-Wing, 2 speeder bikes, Darth's Tie fighter, and slave 1, along with lots of mint figures.

Video games: Mainly anime related titles, RPG's and Shooters for older systems.

As of late though I am in the need of money and things will probably slowly be sold off. Stuff I got on impulse buy will go first, and rare and loved things will go last.

I collect action figures of all shapes, sizes, and franchises. Power Rangers, He-Man, Marvel, DC, Dragon Ball Z, you name it, I've got at least one in the series.

So, Iron Plant, you like Witchblade, eh? I have an entire set of the Claybourne Moore action figure series 1. Witchblade, Gold Witchblade, Obsidian Witchblade, Crimson Medieval Witchblade, Ian Nottingham, and then I have one of each of the figures (four in series) signed and numbered by Moore. I might be mising a single figure, as I haven't catologued them in a while, but if you're interested in owning them, please PM me.

I used to be collect Star Wars stuff until I had TIE fighters flying out of my ass.

It eventually wore off... When I was younger, I would buy anything with the name on it. I even boughtan Oral-B toothbrush from the 80's with an image of C-3PO and R2 on it. Weird.

Out of all of the collectibles out there, the older figures are the most fun to collect... Carded figures are usually out of the question, but loose ones are just as nifty. Some of the modeling is just so corny... You gotta love them.
