In order: Genesis, PCE, NG, SNES.
I picked Genesis as my fave..
I dunno... each system has plenty of pros/cons. I guess I'll pick SNES since that's the only one I had back then.
Genny
Currently, the Genny. The Nomad puts it over the top. The SNES has some of my favorite games of all-time, but the Genny has some of the most replayable, so I'll go with that.
Snes, I never played the Mega Drive classics(nor have I ever held a PCE controller in my hand) back in the days and now most of the games don't hold up anyway.
1. Genesis
2. SNES
3. Turbo
4. Neo Geo
It's a tough choice between the Genesis and SNES but I have to edge to the Genesis for having more great action games. I'm a huge Turbo fan as well; I think it's the best one for shooters.
Since it was the system I bought games for and supported during the great 16 bit console war, I have to go with the SNES.
But I also own a Sega Nomad now and I am constantly buying Genesis games to play and enjoy. It's a great system too.
I never owned or played Neo geo or TG-16
I loved playing the Genesis and Herzog Zwie is one of my favorites from the 16-bit era, but once I played Street Fighter II on the SNES, the Genesis started getting less and less playtime.
The SNES still holds up very well, with a decent soundchip and an excellent color palette. From 1993 on, this console just kept amazing me. With the Genesis(1993 and on), it was more the Sega CD for me, than the cartridge games.
EDIT:
I'd also like to add, that the defining game of the 16-bit era for me, was Super Metroid.
