Preview: Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike

In just a few weeks, the newest chapter in the <i>Rogue Squadron</i> series will be here. Although the game was featured at E3, I didn't have much opportunity to truly sit down and appreciate the game.

Recently, LucasArts blessed its fans with a special promotional preview disc, featuring a sample playable level and a few other modest entertaining elements. As you may of guessed, I picked up a personal copy and now, the anticipation factor was increased exponentially.

I dunno... after I bought (yes, bought) my demo from Best Buy, I was expecting huge improvements over Rogue Squadron II, but I really don't see them. The AT-ST destruction is really stupid. Get underneath, and let the game tell you what button to press next, and the next one, and the next one. Fun? Then I always die while fumbling about with the targeting system and trying to shoot snowtroopers.
I'm having fun with the Star Wars Aracade game, though. Those're some crazy vector graphics for 1982...

Damn straight! It's a demo! It's an unfinished product, so therefor it should be perfect! Criticize!

...I think it's just me. I've always loved every form of Star Wars except the games. Tried quite a few and can't stand any I've played (except that arcade game on the demo disc, that is). I don't even like the good ones. Ah, well. I guess I'll go take out my jaded anger on that green Death Star for the 352nd time...

I picked it up for five bucks at Best Buy, like Chao, and my opinion is also pretty much the same. Destroying the AT-ATs was pretty throw-away, and most of the on-foot stuff was very boring to me. The in-air stuff was somewhat fun, but it was pretty much the same thing as Rouge Leader. The graphics weren't even too impressive to me, other than the AT-ATs and some bump mapping on the snow. I kept waiting until you got the the "...however" part and stated some gripes, Bahn ;)
