Because they love what they do and they care about their product and name. And thats the reason why I love Nintendo.

Nintendo making less money? They only made about $800 million in software sales last year. I'm sure there are a lot of companies that woul like to make that much money in a year. That's a pretty big chunk of the market, considering that it's only about $3 billion a year.

Which is a smart thing to do. Just ask Steve Jobs or Apple about that one. He sold too much of his stock and the company was taken out of his hands. But when the company started to fall on it's face, who came to save it? Steve Jobs is now the interum president of the company. He has taken Apple back to a positive position in the dominant PC market.

Sega pushed the jump to 3D. After the solid success of the VF series Sega pretty much droped 2D like a Hot Rock - and Nintendo damn-near never makes 2D games these days - excpet on GBA but we went over this before.

All I know is - A Crash would not, could not bring back what you liked so much. It's like with Dave Mustaine (Megadeth): He wanted to get back to his old sound so much, but he could never do it. Unfortunately - Megadeth is no more. My point is though: You can't go back - even if you really really tried and belived you could - there's no going back. It's like asking for civilization to collapse and expecting it to be like the Reniassiance. Nothing doing (though, am I the only one who has thought of the prospect :) ).



The quality of Nintendo's games aside, they aren't going to save anything. To the point: The world of the Video Games Business is not as story book as a lot of gamers like to think it is. Ken Kutagiri (sp?) didn't shake his fist to the sky and vow revenge on Nintendo for backing out of the SNES CD project. And Dreamcast was NOT the martyr (like they have been treated) for great video games and Sony and MS aren't some evil empire. They're all businesses. It's just as ridiculous as imagining Jack in the Box employees getting into fist fights with Wendys employess - cring out to Jack/Dave as they fall in this imaginary battle :/

All of these games have been mentioned. I believe with their own topics. a list of capable 2D games does not mean much comparatively. many systems have them. If you're talking comparison, One is liekly to win out over the other. That is what most people seem to be doing. Whether you care or not doesn't matter.
