Whine whine whine!
The controls in this were no more a problem than the horrible camera was in the original Devil May Cry, but you didn't have a problem with it.
If the main character shot more stuff, stabbed vampires, and maybe did gun-kata once in a while you wouldn't have a problem.
Now back to the DMC3 I banish thee!

Even if character could do all cool stuff like that, but controlled like shit, whats good would it do? ;)
Camera issues and Character controll issues are quite different things you know.

I really find that it's way too easy to die and that the difficulty level may be a bit high for a game on normal mode, but I'll be damned if I'm not enjoying the hell out of it now.
Crouch and hold still (when possible) for firing, it really drives up your hit percentage.Quote:

Though, she did make an excellent decoy when fighting the second group of two T'lans. Kept one busy while I pummeled the other one.
Anyway, I had no ammo at that point in time, too, and I waited for them to get as close as possible to me, then I beat them mercilessly. Almost died, but it felt pretty good when I finally accomplished it. I still never killed the two T'lans in the fire, but after I was told what I was supposed to be getting in that area, I had no problem running away from them.
I never had a problem with the guns. Crouch and hide behind a wall, pop out, shoot, and then duck back. Wait for them to finish their round of attack, pop back out and fire a few more shots. Repeat.Quote:

The biggest problem with the game is the insanely wonky gunplay. There's nothing that can be done about skillfully shooting some of these guys down. Many times, I just ran through a room and hoped I'd make it out with a sliver of life.
The gratifying part was making it out of a certain scenario after 25 retries. The part that wasn't gratifying was having to retry certain scenarios ad nauseam. I swear, this game made me really fucking angry like nothing else. I have no idea why or how anyone could play this game on a difficulty level higher than normal, because there is no particular skill that'll get you through it. The ammo is limited, the soldiers take lots of abuse, and they all flank you.
Anyway, I beat it. I just thought the gunplay was terribly unbalanced and destroyed a good portion of the game for me. There were parts I could not see myself getting past. I just couldn't. I'd open a door and soldiers would shoot at me, reducing my health bar by half, before I could even move Derrick anywhere. You don't understand how insanely frustrating this game is. It's like nothing else. I swear.
The good thing is, I kind of enjoyed the melee combat. Pretty innovative, IMO, and I can't wait to see how Riddick implements its own first person fighting engine.

I briefly played the Riddick demo -- it's similar to Breakdown in that the camera jostles up and down in 1st person to simulate movement. Also, the fists come up when engaging in melee, and there are combos as well. Certainly a good looking game.
