IGN says it sucks :(

I agree with Anoop that:
- the characters are likeable (especially Gemini)
- conversation elements are seemingly unimportant
- collision detection needs work (I continue to have problems executing jump attacks  )
- rotating the camera is a chore
- fogging/draw distance is too short
but I disagree with:
- the lack of a radar (Press the start button, dummy; it's right there! )
- "unexciting gameplay" ("repetitive" would've been a more suitable descriptor - but so is Dynasty Warriors)
- saying that it's not worth finishing :\I'm having fun with it and consider the aforementioned flaws minor relative to the overall experience. It would've been nice to see more FMV; however, almost 100% of the dialogue is voiced, and the character portraits are as fluid as anime. If you liked the Koubu Knuckle mini-game in Sakura Taisen 3 enough to want to play a full-length version, you should check this out.Quote:

I just missed your post before. The impressions are always appreciated. I love this series.
I got the first 4 on DC though. I don't think I can import any PS2 outings, which saddens me.
Anoop is way too much of a fanboy. But if even he can bash ST5e0, then it must be a horrible game. Sega/Red's been dead since they sold out with ST4. With each subsequent release (Atsuki Chishio ni, Mysterious Paris, now 5ep0), they're just digging themselves more and more into a hole.Quote:

Eh.
Unlike the other 2 PS2 ST games, V-0 is wholly original - new characters, new music, new setting. It's fresh and fun. With a bit more polish to the gameplay and a couple dozen FMV clips (like Gungrave), it would've been a must-buy.Quote:

I enjoyed playing V-0, too - I just finished it the other night. I do agree that the camera was difficult to work with at times, and made a few battles needlessly difficult, and some of the locations felt bland, but that didn't stop me from playing, and I've played through a bit with the one character I've unlocked so far (I don't own either of the other PS2 ST games, so I don't know if I can get those ones at all...) I liked being able to play through a ST title with a female character as the lead - that was pretty cool for me. RedCoKid's right, a bit more polish would've been great, but it's certainly not terrible. It also managed to make me a bit more interested in STV, and reminded me what I like most about the ST games - the characters.
It's quirky and different, and I'm glad I tried it.
Oh... and for the record, Rose, I feel that the Dynasty Warriors series is absolute garbage. So a bad clone with Sakura Taisen characters wouldn't be my thing.
So they can edit the crosses off Erica's uniform? :rolleyes:Quote:

I remember about the promised but never delivered ST3 review too. I was waiting on it to see if it was worth buying since I hadn't played a game in the series before, but I went ahead and brought it anyway.
Mastiff has worked with Red Entertainment once already, and unlike Sega of America, they didn't dismiss the idea of localizing ST when asked. I can't see how that's a bad thing. So why are you being sarcastic when I'm encouraging people to be supportive toward a company who might be considering it?Quote:
