Codemasters Announces Wartime Command
Got room for one more war-based title? Codemasters is taking gamers deep into the battlefield once more with Wartime Command: Battle for Europe 1939-1945 (the official title to Battlefield Command.
Wartime Command will feature over 100 authentic, historically correct battle scenarios derived from actual World War II records and maps. In addition, over 300 individual vehicles, planes and weapons have been recreated from military blueprints along with photographic and technical references. Vehicles and planes are fully modeled from military data, internal schematics and up to 20 external photos taken from all angles.
For example, the heavily armored Tiger Tank will feature front, side, rear,
top and turret armor values which are depicted to exact detail and specifications as are the ballistics and damage of any projectile striking the tank. From the tank's cockpit, commanders will be able to witness first-hand the sheer destruction of an enemy's bullet or grendae, as either projectile has the capability of destroying various portions of the tank.
Using topographical and street maps, aerial images and period landscape
photography, every hill, valley, embankment, forest, building and landmark will appear as they were at the time of battle. Similar to the surrounding troops and vehicles, buildings and landscape elements in Wartime Command are fully destructible as well. Players can fire shells into saturated, swampland and watch, as the scorch-edged hole created by the bullet's impact will gradually fill with water.
Wartime Command is being developed by the 1C Company and is scheduled for release on the PC in Spring 2004.
