tipping at full-serve gas stations

Okay, so I have a few of full-serve gas stations near me (where they pump the gas for you because your ass is too lazy to get out in the rain and pump it your damn self). I use these places as often as I can because I fit that lazy bit.

Now, the ones I usually go to are priced the same $/gal. as self-serve gas stations, though there are other full-serve places nearby that charge more because they are full-serve. Also, nothing fancy goes on like window washing or things like that. Simply pump and pay.

My question is, are we supposed to tip the gas pumper at these places, and if so how much? I never have tipped, yet some people say you should. I'd like to know the general consensus on this answer.

Ive lived in New Jersey for virtually my entire life.

There is no such thing as a self-serve station in New Jersey... and if there is, I havent seen it. I seriously have no idea how to pump gas because Ive never had to do it.

I have never tipped the guy in my entire life, and they dont expect it.

But it may be different in an area where self-serves are the norm and full-serves are the exception.

I was just about to post the exact same thing, pumping your own gas is for suckers.

It's illegal to pump your own gas in Jersey. No idea why, but everywhere else you go it's self-serve. And I've never heard of tipping. I think only some people do near the holidays (like when they go to the station right by the house, so they see the same attendants all the time).

I've never, ever in my 21 years seen a full service pump.

Do you drive out here, diff? I haven't seen any full-service stations in LA. I believe you are supposed to tip the full-service gas jockeys. One dollar for a small car/sport coupe, two dollars for a sedan/small SUV, and three for a large vehicle. But those guys are also supposed to clean your windows for you, too.

In oregon you cant pump your own gas.. and never have they been tipped.. ITs not full serivce.. just the gas.. and maybe a windsheild clean but thats it..

I didn't know there was any Full service gas stations left in the area? Where's it at?
Oh and I think in this area it would be right to tip, since full service is a luxury.

CA Natives I talk to are pretty surprised when I tell them Ive never pumped my own gas, and, like I said before, I wouldnt even know how to if I had to. I am afraid I would fuck up, end up drencing myself is gasoline, and blowing myself up or something.
