No... because if you buy another cable modem your provider will notice that there are two MAC addresses running through your house and will charge you extra. A router is the way to go here... it'll be cheaper in the long run.Quote:

If you try to hook up another cable modem along side of your existing one, it will look for its own IP address from your ISP. Unless you're looking at paying for 2 services, get a router. I don't see any advantages over the router anyway..You still need to route the modem to the xbox.
