Forbidden Words of 2004

Matt Groening has done this list for years in his Life in Hell strip, usually at or near the end of each year. I think it's time to start next year's list, don't you?

Basically, it's a list of annoying-as-fuck cliches, buzzwords, and slang words that you wish would disappear. But inevitably, many of these words and phrases stick around for year after year, long outstaying their welcome.

I'll get the ball rolling:

flash mob
metrosexual
"the politics of personal destruction"
"shock and awe"
N-Gage
Bennifer
BenJen
Any word or phrase that cleverly combines the names "Ben Affleck" and "Jennifer Lopez"
"fair and balanced"
shagadelic
gravitas
"my bad"

'Check it out', ala Dave Letterman telling Monty to say that whenever they talk last night. :lol: !

I never heard almost all of those.

Probably has cable TV.

Bling-bling is a word I want to go away. Also any word with -izzie at the end needs to die. Now.

"Bush Doctrine"
"the people have a right to know"
the use of the word "intollerant" or any of it's conjegants such that it is mis-used in place of the word "acceptance"
the word Homophobe

"Think outside of the box"

Words and phrases used on TNL...

"But seriously..." when denoting a change in tone. The same for "Back on topic..."

*gasp*

"Maybe, just maybe"

"quite possibly"

Any form of "wow man, I totally hate you, but this time I agree with you!"

I hate the concept of "my bad"

Its not like you are sorry, its just admitting you screwed up.
