Selling Your Whole Collection

so yeah, it's something that im some what considering. i mean, i'd rather not, but when it comes down to it, i really want a new bike, and im starting to become pretty miserable without one.

anyways, with no source of income, and what apears to be a shitty job market right now (atleast where i live), im thinking ebay.

but anyways, what do you guys think works better, selling everything seperately, or in bundles?

but yeah, i mean, for the most part, i don't think im going to. but if i can't find a job within 2 months, im probably just going to bite the bullet and do it.

When I was doing this, I always wanted to sell in bundles. However, I found that I got better offers when I sold parts. If your collection is big enough, it's possible that you'll have a lot of stuff that somebody won't want to have to buy just to get those one or two games that they do.

It all depends, though. While not games, I had a rather large collection of Tori Amos singles from around the time of her second album. A lot of stuff that was pretty rare at this point, and I just sold the whole set for like $700. At that point, it was far easier (and possibly more profitable) to do it as one set.

So, it all depends on how much effort you want to put into it. Selling it as one big set will make it easier, but selling things as singles might get you more money for those items. However, you then may be stuck with the items that people don't want and you then don't want either.

The best way to do it, is to bundle the crappy games with the system.

Say, for instance, you've got a complete copy of Guardian Heroes (it goes for about 70-80on Ebay right now). If you put that in a bundle, with a bunch of crap games, you'll only make one deal. But sell it seperately, so you'll get 80 for GH, another amount for the crap bundle, rather than just 70-80 for one big bundle.

Always have pictures, pictures are a MUST.

Buyers tend to gravitate more towards buy it nows, on Ebay. It's more appealing to me, for instance, to be able to buy something right now for a few bucks more, then have to come back in four days, get into bidding war and such, espically if I've got other plans.

That's just a start, for now.

To go farther on what Shidoshi said, the best way to get rid of the crappy games at the end, that no one would ever bid on, is to just bundle them with the system.

I mean, people just want the Saturn or the SNES, any crappy games is just a bonus to them.

if there's any crappy games in my collection, then they're gonna be NES games that i paid a few cents for.

so maybe in that case, selling seperaely would be better.

Not exactly crappy, but games you'll barely get anything for on Ebay. Virtua Fighter 2 for Saturn comes to mind, as does Fighting Vipers.

It's always good to research prices, first. Ebay is alot like the stock market, and prices tend to rise and fall. I mean, Guardian Heroes for 80 bucks now? I remember seeing it at 50 and thinking it would only go down from there.

How soon do you want this transaction completed? I *know* "as soon as possible" but I mean how long are you willing for it to take?

You're going to have to inventory all this stuff. TNL is a good community for knowledge on the worth of stuff and even schemes on how best to do this type of thing. Maybe if you inventory it right away, you can post it and we can try to help you break the collection up into the best way to sell it off for a good amount.

I'll say this: I don't know what you're collection really looks like, but you're probably gonna get like 90% of your money from 50% of your games. Some shit's really not worth selling except to have it gone from your sight.

tell me about it. like i said, this is something that im not gonna take into serious consideration if i don't find a job within the next 2 months.
