After awhile mine all seem to do that, they sorta coil bunch up and in effect shorten the controller cords. I try to make them straight again but usually it doesn't work. Anyone have the same problem?

I usually just hang them from the port end and they untwist to thier natural state. I generally put one finger between the controller and wrap the cord around it, to keep pressure off of the part that enters the controller.
You need a lighter touch when you're putting them away. If you tightly wind up the cords, you'll kink the wire inside repeatedly, and end up with curly cords. Roll the cords up loosely.
heh, that's why I never roll my controllers up! Learned that lesson way back with my SMS pads. :P

it doesn't matter what I do, my cords get tangled up. I think little cord-pixies come out and tangle them up to annoy me
I always unplug them from the system before rolling them up. I used to leave them plugged in when I rolled them up and the cords would get all twisty. When that happened, yeah, I would hang them from the plug and let them unwind.
One of my cords has the plastic covering melted off...
Buddy of mine borrowed my PS2 and the controller cord had a run-in with his block heater. Still works, though. :S
