OMG !!!! That was badass indeed.
Americans = robbed!
Holy shit, it's even got the human skull from Giger's original work in there!
That's hardcore. :nod:
Almost worth buying just to put your American DVDs in there...
I'm contemplating it.
Bump because I felt like discussing the series.
After watching AvP2, I'm going back and watching every bit of the Alien Quadrilogy, which I don't remember I did completely back when I got it. So far I finished disc 5 (Alien 3). After I finish watching all nine discs, I'll probably go back and listen to the commentaries.
One thing I've been doing in my boredom at work is reading the rejected Alien 3 scripts. I remember when I first heard about the "wooden planet" concept on the Alien 3 extras DVD, it sounded awesome, but after reading the script, it seemed kinda sucky. Among the things that didn't make much sense were the alien changing skin properties to blend with its surroundings and headbursters (?!). I read a little bit of William Gibson's original script too and that just had aliens and facehuggers coming out of nowhere on the Sulaco.
I want a real Alien 5. :cry:
That set is like $30 in certain places nowadays.
I like the Gibson script a lot, actually. I'd like to see it get a graphic novel adaptation or something. It's not "canon" exactly, but it takes some risks and tries to do some different stuff with the material. I like that it basically hammers out that Bishop had a second agenda in going back for Ripley in Aliens.
The wooden planet script would have made for a really strange movie, but that's where we got the monks/prisioners.
I really think an Alien prequel could save the franchise. One of the few rehashes I can support really.
I wish I could find that Japanese case.
