Army Soldier faces Cowardice Charge

Shine's right though, this reminds me of when I first came across Rotten a few years ago and saw a pic of someone who was shot in the head with a hunting rifle. All that supposed exposure to violence via videogames and the media didn't stop me from having a gut reaction to that picture. Going by movies or the media I should have expected a hole in the head and blood everywhere. Instead it looks like the top of the guys head just split apart, he didnt even have any of his forehead or eye area left. I guess it differs from person to person though but I really doubt watching the news and playing Grand Theft Auto would prepare you for seeing a real ravaged corpse

Believe it or not we don't take pride in killing people. Talk to any Marine (well the sane ones anyway) who's been in combat and you won't hear him brag about how he had to kill people. He'll probably tell you that he doesn't want to face it ever again. Disrespect for the military is ridiculous, without us you would end up having to kill other people, so for those with negative views at least give them with a respectful attitude (not directing at anybody here).

That's a good example, I've seen some real gruesome real life violence and some of it made me feel sick for days, the game and movie is a completely different thing (although some movie violence has made me feel sick...I have something against severed limbs on leaving people, the feeling doesn't exist for dead people with severed limbs though...)

Those movies are rated G compared to seeing an actual death. Watch a movie like Face of Death. Even the Electric Chair scene will send chills down your spine. Movies dummy it down so bad. When someone gets shot, they don't just fall over and die. They moan, cry, breath heavily and make jestures you could'nt or would'nt want to imagine.


Seeing something through a television screen and seeing it in reality, are two different things. Death should never be taken lightly. If you do take it lightly, you have some emotional problems that need to be dealt with.

It's the commander's job to be a dick to them. If he was soft, they in turn would be soft. He's not there to be a friend. He's there to make men out of boys, not be their psychologist.

Exactly. That electric chair scene from Faces of Death is supposedly fake though, but you're right regardless. Some of the pics/video clips I've seen have left me with that shitty feeling for days like Gohron mentioned.

I've seen faces of death and I had to laugh at how fake some of those "death scenes" were. That's when I wasn't sleeping through the narraration.

What's really sad is that people can't see the joke in my last post. At least one person got it (I hope). Personally, I've seen a few dead bodies, but never close up. I think I could take it, but until I actually been up close, I can't really say.

I caught it(How could one miss the GTA reference), but I responded as those who say they have been de-sensitised by movies and such, have no clue to the reality of death.

I know what you mean, the guy that was "drawn and quartered" by the horses had me rolling. Faces of Death is such a crock.

On a related note, a guy comitted suicide in the building I work in a few years ago. He jumped to his death from the 7th floor through the atrium and went splat in the lobby, right on top of one of the face bamboo trees coming out of the floor. Dumb thing was that the cops couldn't move the body until the medical examiner could get there and "oficially" declare the guy dead. :rolleyes: So, we had this guy lying in the lobby a good few hours, covered by a sheet with police tape around him and cops everywhere. I got a good look at him before they covered him up- it was pretty disturbing. Next to no blood at all which I didn't expect since he had just fallen 7 stories. When they finally covered him up they left his sneaker sticking out. I didn't know they guy- at the time we had a methadone clinic on the second floor and it was one of their patients. The clinic was booted from the building shortly thereafter.
