I agree on the music. It provides the perfect amount of dissonance.Quote:

MvC2 is hella fun for screwing around, and has a great list of characters, but is no way at all to be considered a serious fighter in the slightest. But on that level, I love it. I also seem to be the only player in the world who enjoyed the MvC2 music just because it so contradicted what was going on on-screen, it made the game twice as hilarious and funky. If it had a normal fighting game soundtrack, I doubt I even would've noticed, I sure can't remember any music from the previous ones.
I say it is a serious fighter. Sure it may not compare to many of the earlier SNK fighters, but what does? There is a ton of variety and a lot to master and NOT everyone is a corner-trapping, infinite-using player. There are a lot of us who focus on mastering the game without being cheap.
If you can find a few mid-level players, ones who have the game mastered pretty well with all characters yet don't resort to infinites or traps, then the game is a lot of fun. Mixing it up to make teams that have maximum block damage or other cool "themes" is great. Hell I've played games just to try and get one move off and if it suceeds, it's really cool...like doing Jill's dash super, continuing with Zangief's spinning pile driver super, and finishing with Ryus level 3 uppercut super...the game is amazingly versatile, you just have to get away from the few characters everyone else uses and play with people that are willing to mix it up a bit, then it's a lot of fun and challenging.
It's a shame that many of you have never had the chance to enjoy the game competetively because of a couple players who exploit traps and other "cheap" moves. Not everyone uses Cable and Magneto and other cheap characters and besides these "traps" are avoidable, it just takes really good timing. I have had more fun with this fighter than any other.
It's really exciting to go to an arcade and beat good players with unconventional teams...try BB Hood, Jin, and T. Bonne for a good team not a lot of people use. Or try Servebot, Spiral, and Sabertooth for some serious block damage and juggling.
