First off, nice smirk. Something about cocky little grins always catches my attention in a positive way.

And, thank you for not making him a samurai. There's way too much of the ninja/samurai business in art forums. I saw swordsman, and about cringed. The whole hooded jacket with sleeve zippers and a head full of uneven hair is a VERY refreshing change (and it looks cool, too).

But something's bugging me about it... Something to do with the perspective and his arm.

BTW, what is the object on the right ? It looks like a tree or a pillar but I can't quite figure it out.

yeah, lately I've been putting my characters in casual clothing like jackets with the occassional thing like gauntlets or whatever, I like the way it looks :)

it's a busted pillar, I wanted to do more with it but I wound up stopping before I did

You're getting better... much better.

I like the perspective. Always nice when you can get creative with the angle of view.


I think you can go a bit further with that drawing, but that's just me.

i agree.. and with the perspective and the clothing, it seems like he has quit a large 'gut' goin on there, takes away from the sword ability.. and makes him look hunched over...

That's because Samurai are the coolest things in existance, I don't care for ninja's though.
