Ok, got the F/F adapter. I hope there's something else I'm doing wrong, because I'm not too impressed. DC VGA is certainly better than the S-video cable I normally play with. For Gamecube games I use a component video cable, and while the VGA cable provides a slightly sharper picture the colors are much better with component. I'd much rather play on my tv if this is the best a VGA cable can do.
Allright, spent the last few hours going through my Gamecube library. While the sharper image quality is great, the colors are definetly somewhere around s-video quality. I got the cable because of Epmode's recommendation and Matt's seconding of it but seriously, unless there's something wrong with mine then you guys should try component cables for playing Gamecube games. I hope it's just this particular cable, because I also ordered the Xbox cable Epmode linked to.
Is your cable the one Matt made out of the official GCN Component cables?

Yeah, that looks similar to the one I have. Works well. Mine was made using the component cables, and it looks very similar to the one you have. Having it displayed on a VGA monitor or hdtv shouldn't be that much of a difference. Maybe it's your colour settings?Quote:

My VGA cable works nicely with Veiwtiful Joe. What games have you tried it with? I can try them out on my LCD.
I don't have a LCD monitor. I appretiate your help, though. What I really want to know is what Matt thinks of this, and if they're any VGA cables for the Gamecube that can guarantee component quality color.
Yo, if you are using good quality VGA cables for the GC than you will be blown away by the picture quality. I mean, I bought the ones Matt makes, and there is nothing more gorgeous than GC in HDTV, especially on games such as Vietiful Joe, Mario Kart, etc.
So yeah, there is def something wrong because 480p mode should make the games look as good as they possibly can and yes the colors should be brighter and sharper than component with no blurring, no flickering, etc. that you would normally get from interlaced mode. Now you could easily test this, take your GC w/component cables and test them on a HDTV set at a store (pretend you are interested in buying one ;)) and see how that looks -- make sure you hook the comp cables up the a HD input though so it is in progressive mode. See how this picture stacks up to the VGA one you are getting and maybe you'll be able to tell if your GC VGA cables are bad.
