XAK 3 The Eternal Reccurence

Well I don't think it's as bloody or as dark as people have made it out to be. Though people do get slaughted a bit. Anyways this is a really cool overhead action/rpg. The coolest part, like in the Secret of Mana, you have allies that fight alongside you controlled by the computer. They don't sit idle but really do their share of fighting. I think the Cinemas are great and the music is wondeful. I haven't played any of the other ones in the series. It is in Japanese, but there is a English translated version floating around. Some good faqs availible too.

Have you played Xak 1 & 2? I've looked into this series, and I always would rather start at the beginning. Too bad I can't find the game. Apparently, one of the characters from 1 & 2 has her own action game (Fray). That's a great PC-Engine site, by the way, even if the text is a little Engrish-y (or does that term only apply to Japanese translations?). I love the generous amount of screenshots in the reviews.

I wanted to play Xak 1+2 but heard it was really short, so I opted for part 3 first which interested me more due to the high violence factor. I paid $15 for a complete one, and missed out on buying Fray and Xak1+2.

The site is usually in Brazillian so a little gets lost in translation, but I enjoy the site and reviews of obscure games.

I've found a copy of Xak 1 and 2 so hopefuly Impressions to
come.

Oh, and Korian, you might want to check out Aoi Blink. It is a very good platformer apparently.

Ah, you got to it. I was gonna make a topic about it eventually when I was finished. I'm just doing one final pass on the script for tweaking purposes. I've sooo dragged my feet with this project. About 2 years have gone by since I started... =\ Oh well, once I finish this, "Ys 4-Dawn of Ys" will probably be my last PC-Engine fan translation. Xak3 is a fine action-RPG that pretty much pushes the PCE/DUO to its limits. It's worth a try if you can still handle playing 8-bit games (something that's pretty hard for me even).

Huh? Not sure I follow what my sig is doing there. And, I would hardly characterize myself as the source of "all the stupid Japanese RPG shit" as you put it for a few obscure projects if that is what you're saying. Maybe I'm missing something here.

Nightwolve congrats on your Xak translation, I didn't realize that a TNL memeber was behind it. I think Xak 3 is probally one of the finest games the PC Engine has to offer, and it will be nice to play it in English.

No, I am talking about how Japanese RPGs have that hope and love = power thing that has nearly ruins Lunar 2, Arc the Lad:TotS and other awesome RPGs. I wasn't talking about your projects, I was just pointing out how hippies were killing RPG's 40 years in advance.
