Famicom SP and Famicom series

Nintendo announced they will release a new Famicom Mini series for GameBoy Advance on February 14, for 2000 yen each. Famicom Mini is a remake of the classic Famicom (NES) titles, ten games are announced so far:

Super Mario Bros (Nintendo)
Donkey Kong (Nintendo)
Excite Bike (Nintendo)
Legend of Zelda (Nintendo)
Ice Climber (Nintendo)
Pac-Man (Namco)
Xevious (Namco)
Mappy (Namco)
Bomberman (Hudson)
Star Soldier (Hudson)
- Nintendo announced they will release a new Famicom styled GameBoy Advance SP in Japan on February 14, for 12,500 yen, the system will be released simultaneously with the Famicom Mini series.

On second look, this is crap. That Famicom GBA SP looks completely budget compared to the awesome (but ugly) one you could get through Club Nintendo.

The main difference between the limited edition and general edition Famicom GBASP's is the metal faceplate. Which had to be applied by hand, making a mainstream release impossible thanks to manufacuring costs.

2000 yen per game isn't too bad either, when you consider the difference in cost of living in Japan. It might translate directly to $19, but that's hardly what it's worth. For comparsion, regular GBA games cost about 4800 yen ($45) there.

Nintendo of America should seriously consider doing a similar promotion. I'd by a NES styled GBASP with Mario and Zelda in a second. I'd expect the NES ports to probably run $9 or so too, or maybe bundle games for $19. Zelda 1 & 2 in single cart would be nice. :)

Charging 20 bucks apiece is fucking retarded. Especially since they're giving away those Zelda CE discs.

I'm not too much of a fan of that GBASP, but the famicom series has some sweet looking boxes. If they ever did release something like that here, I'd hope the price would be less than 20$.
