RATE THESE IMPORT GAMES Part 2!!!!!!!!!!

ok I'm digging through old gamefan issue's & finding new import games never heard of
sooooo here is the listt, give info descriptions/reviews of the games if you played em:
IMPORTS:

Fakedown -saturn? a action adv game, graphix look like tobal no2, they say the gaame is made from the creator of Akira & Ghost in the Shell

-Airs Adventure -saturn -a real time rpg with tekken sized characters?

-Psychic Curse Assassin/Psychic Killer -Saturn (dunno which title is the right one or if they're different) the game looks like a 2 co-op Shinobi Legions game.

-Chaos Seed -psx - it looks like a 2d rpg? they say the battle engine is exactly like Chrono Trigger

-Falcom Classics Vol. 1 Ancient Ys Vanished Omen -psx? -so are these remade Ys(pronounced as 'ease') worth it, but you have to know hardcore japanese to play it?

-Sagagaga- DC -I NEVER heard or seen a in-depth review of this game, I heard ppl say it was good but that's it
dunno what type of game it is, if the graphics aare 2d or 3d etc...

-Slayers Royal RPG -saturn - this looks cool & I never heard anyone talking about it :(

I've never played the Falcom Classics version of Ys; but unless it is drastically different than the TurboDuo or Sega Master System versions, I don't think you'd need to know any Japanese to play them. There's a tiny bit of backtracking-type stuff which might be puzzling for about 15 minutes, though. Weapons descriptions are somewhat important, too.

Are you sure that "Sagagaga" isn't actually "Segagaga?"

This is from a GameSpot blurb:

those descriptions are too fuzzy to know how exactly the game plays

Waitaminute - there are Y's games on PSX? How many? What's the quality of the ports? (Ie, better than the Sorcerian rerelease?) and is it Master System Y's, or Turbo? Enquiring minds want to know...

Great! If you can afford it or can score a deal from some sucker that doesn't know the value, go for it. It's a great action game in the style of Shinobi. 2P Shinobi sounds about right. Others will probably give mixed opinions I suppose but I love the game!!!

This is a game where you try to run Sega. It's like a business similator. It has 3D representations of Sega products and whatnot. And nope, I've never played it but I'd like to.

Fakedown -saturn - Sadly never released, looked to be cool though.

-Airs Adventure -saturn -Horrible. It is not real time, nor does it have tekken sized characters. It sucks, that is all you need to know.

-Psychic Curse Assassin/Psychic Killer -Saturn - Based on the demo, very fun. Not worth $189 though.


-Sagagaga- DC -RPG/Sim. Has overhead 2D RPG with standard RPG combat and sim sections. Not import Friendly unfortunately.

Where have you seen Psycic Assassin Taromaru for $189??? Last time I seen it on Ebay, it went for $300, and nowhere to be found in other places.

If you like action RPGs, you should like Ys on Saturn. It doesn't require a lot of Japanese knowledge because of the excellent walkthroughs on gamefaqs.

The Ys on Saturn is more like an improved version of the Master System version. In my opinion, the turbo version is better than the Saturn version. I will try and breakdown the differences:

Story/Intro
The Saturn version had part of the beginning cut, and the 'intro' is about 5 paragraphs of scrolling text along with a scrolling bitmap of Adol's ship coming into port.

The Turbo version has a couple more minor scenes that aren't in the Saturn version. It also has a real intro setting up the history of Ys (think Lunar on Sega CD with a lot less animation).

Music
The Saturn version has remixed versions of the CD-Music

The Turbo version has the original CD-Music.

I like both pretty much equally, that means they have great classic game music.

Game Length/Level Setup
The Saturn version only has the first Ys 1 on the first collection. You have to buy the 2nd falcom collection to play Ys 2. There are 11 levels for Adol to gain from the beginning to the end of Ys 1. You start over on level 1 when you play Falcom Classics 2. It is easy to be at level 5 or 6 by the time you finish all of the first dungeon. Gaining levels isn't satisfying because it is so easy to be near your max level by the time you get to the last area in the game.

The Turbo version has both Ys I and II directly linked together, with about 64 levels for Adol to gain between the beginning of Ys 1 to the end of Ys 2. As such, the Turbo version gives you a smooth progression in Adol's strength.

Portraits/Voice
The Saturn version has portraits for every major character, and they have been redone. Everytime you talk to an inportant character, you see their portrait. There is no voice for any of the characters.

The Turbo version has portraits for the major characters, when they are speaking. If they are not speaking, you don't see their portraits.

Graphics
The Saturn version has great graphics in my opinion, and looks somewhat close to Ys Eternal on PC (just zoomed out a bit).

The Turbo version looks a bit spartin at times, mainly due to less color. It looks 8 bit. The portaits and video animations doo look quite nice though, especially if you think back to when the game was released

Other
Both versions have the same dungeon layouts, and I think boss AI maybe slightly different between the two versions but I am not sure.

I would pick the Turbo version over the Falcom Classics version version for sure. Having both games directly linked is very nice, and I really like the intro. Besides, the Turbo version is probably cheaper than Falcom Classics 1, and I don't think you will miss much from not being able to play the other two games on Falcom Classics 1. Although Xanadu is a nice little romp, Dragon Slayer isn't worth the time.

I don't think the Falcom Collection 1 and 2 are on PSX, although I could be wrong.

AFAIK:
Saturn just has Ys 1 and 2, PSX has no Ys ports.
