Great, great movie. The director assumed you know about ancient Greek culture a bit too much (but that's OK, because I do know it), and the battle between Achilles and Hector was amazing.

I saw it, I liked it.
I was in the 3rd row and a lot of the quick action scenes were too blurry for me to know what the hell was going on. Oh well, our fault for getting there late.
Anyways, the movie was great and I liked it. Not knowing anything about the original stories, I didn't know what to expect.
4/5.
Very good movie. The Hector/Achilles fight was very well done, and I think Pitt and Bana both did a good job, although I always had a mental picture of Hector as a much burlier guy... almost like Ajax was in the movie. But I guess that's just my personal interpretation.
I found myself enjoying this movie a lot while watching it. I'm not familiar with the book, but I am familiar with Achilles' story and Troy's story (dipped in that river, held by the heel, etc. (why didn't the stupid bitch just dip him twice?)). There were some things I didn't get but I thought Bana was awesome in this.
I was saddened when he died
Great movie. I never read the books though, so it could have totally butchered the original tale... but it made for a good movie.
I have NO clue why this movie was R rated.
Dude, Hector's death isnot a spoiler :) We all know that he dies.
What do you mean about R rating? It wasnt bloody and gory?
There was blood and gore, but it really wasn't that bad. Aside from a sword through the chest here and there. The worst wound was in the beginning when Achilles kills the barbarian warrior through the shoulder (he does this a couple of times to soldiers).
I mean... it wasn't Brave Heart of Passion of the Christ. Not near it in the slightest. And there wasn't any nudity either. One shot of Helens bum, that's IT.
Hmm, I was expecting Last Samurai or Braveheart level of battle violence :(
Braveheart was way more violent than Last Samurai. I think you'll get pretty even with the Last Samurai. SOME scenes were violent, but not a lot. Like when Achilles cousin was killed it was pretty brutal. But that's the peak.
My friend saw it tonight and the only impression he gave me was: "They turned a three year long war into two weeks"
I just saw this movie. I liked it. It's better than I thought it would be. I liked it more than Gladiator. Actually, I liked it better than all of the recent 'epic' movies, including LOTR.
