Marvel versus...EA?

"Everyone who knows the world could use more good guys can take heart from an agreement Electronic Arts and Marvel Enterprises Inc. are expected to announce today. The two companies will develop a whole new generation of fighting games pitting superheroes from the Marvel Universe against a new, original set of EA superheroes. The multiyear deal grants EA a license to develop and distribute fighting games featuring the world-famous Marvel superheroes for all current and next generation video-game consoles, hand-helds and PCs. For its part, Marvel is the exclusive worldwide licensing agent for all consumer products and media licensing for the EA superheroes. Marvel also will publish a series of comic books based on these games and the forthcoming EA characters."

I'm intrigued what EA can with the Marvel characters, they can make games with really great graphics (SSX3). I'm wondering what these EA superheros will be about, though. Captain X-Treme Sports? Some guy from Road Rash?

Fantastic. If these turn out like those 3D X-Men fighting games did, it's more like EA vs. Marvel fans.

Nobody but Capcom should be allowed to touch that shit, too bad Capcom is busy making Mega Man compilations and shittier 3D sequels and can't be bothered to make any fighting games that might require a couple new sprites anymore.

Well I can't wait to kick spidermans ass with someone from the sims, I'm sure this is gonna sell well though.

Guess Activision lost the rights. Oh well, not like they could make a decent game with them anyway, except for the first 3D Spiderman game. Not that EA has a stellar history of fighting games either. If a US company has got to make this, it should have been Midway. Mortal Kombat: DA had a style of play to it that I think would fit Marvel characters.

They'll release individual add-ons for every single Marvel character. You know they will.

It's funny, because Marvel actually went out of their way to take down websites promoting Sims skins featuring Marvel characters not too long ago :p

And yeah, I can't wait for this game. It's going to be fun handing it to Spiderman with Ty the Tasmanian Tiger, and, um, a building from Sim City?
