Co Workers

I don't have any co-workers I really can't bare. Mind you I work at the local pizza hut... so that's saying pretty much nothing.

Any ones I don't get along with I just tease until they commit suicide.

The guys I work with are fools.

Was promoted to Asst. manager, only to have my boss tell all the new guys I was to be watching over, "don't worry - he can't fire you or anything." Basically, my boss undermined any sense of authority I was supposed to carry with this gig.

Then one kid gets promoted from sales to clerical, and he's bossing everyone else around, saying he can't lose his job...he threatens to fire people...my boss has been teaching him to do my job...and I'm 80% sure they're doing each other, because this kid has no real qualifications to be working here. And it's just sick too, because my boss is old enough to be a pedophile...and this kid is just a friggin' kid.

I used to worry about how my job was nothing more than slightly higher pay, no real difference in responsibility, and zero control over these fools. Now I don't give a damn - as soon as I find a different job, this whole mess can burn in hell, for all I care.

(PS - another new guy brought in a fat 3" knife everyday to work. A girl asks for him to open her calculator package. What does he do? Whips out the knife, skewers the box, and ruins our countertop in one move. Did he get fired? Nope - now he works more hours than I do.)

(PPS - Another new guy is a pretentious ass who shoots his mouth off about all women being good for nothing so-and-sos...AND HE DOES IT RIGHT TO THE FACES OF OUR COSTUMERS. Like a friggin' PR nightmare, he is. And not getting fired, either.)

My coworkers, bosses in particular, are incredibly unorganised...

That sucks man. just grow a pair and prove him wrong. Only then will they actually end up respecting you. Not for nothing man, but you're general demeanor basically says to the world "hey, I am a pushover."

So you need to change that.

I'd like to think the stereotype of "get respect = be an asshole" is wrong.

No, that's not what I am saying. Nor did I say you have to be a jerk. It is possible to be nice and demonstrate leadership qualities. The key is balance. There's a difference between being a nice guy (which you are), and a doormat (which I presume is how some of your co-workers MIGHT see you). Only you know for sure though. Do they respect you?

p.s. who's the female? the boss or the "kid"?

I just started using it. Its fairly straight forward and simple. but there are alot of things that could be done better, especially with the tool bar (no keyboard short cuts? fuck that). the Quark Corp also has some issues with price-gouging and upgrading, as in the damn thing costs $1200, and you cant open a file made in Version 4 with Version 5. gay.

It's good. But Quark is still the premiere layout program... sad...

Quarks not that hard once you learn it's methology. Macromedia is the best programs because of the file manager task bar thingy.

Yes and it sucks. But it's slowly changing though. Indesign is starting to creep up because of it's backward capabilities. I mean, some of the newer options won't show (like Illustrator CD to 9) but it's so much better, overall.

Ever try using a transparency in Quark? You NEED another program to do it for you. The best thing about Quark is that when you're printing it can collect all your images and fonts for you. Also, trapping is easy in it, when compared to something like Illustrator.

beleive this news, in my job i got put in charge of the front of the store years ago, and a lot of my friends work there,and i did the doormat thing till i had it pointed out to me that things were out fo hand. you are not being a jerk when you try to get work done that you are responsable for seeing done, they are being the jerks for thinking that they should be goofing off and getting paid, while you are carrying the extra load for no extra cash. when you set things right, some will hate you, but they really dont want to be there and will either be fired or quit soon anyhow, and those who you are going to have to deal with in the long haul will respect you more because when a leader is in control, things go better for everyone.
