Yes, there are a "whopping" 1.5 million people playing their PS2 online, which is an even smaller percentage of the PS2's overall userbase than Xbox Live has of the Xbox's overall userbase. What does that tell you?
Iwata wants a scientific process to estimate consumer demands? Here -
Step 1 - Pick up a goddamned newspaper.
Step 2 - Read the articles about why Nintendo is fucking up, and has been for years.
Step 3 - Do something about it.

The US market, meanwhile, saw 480,000 units of Final Fantasy Tactics Advance sold during the first half, making it into Square Enix' most successful title of the period - ahead of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (360,000 copies in Japan).
With 360k sold in Japan, it is easy to assume that sales are atleast 750k worldwide.
The store I work at got about 10 copies in last Wednesday and sold out by Friday. A Target near me had what looked like 15-20 copies one day, and the next day they had 2.Quote:

Just because the official sales figures aren't in doesn't mean you can't tell it's selling very well.
Wow, that's awesome for YOUR area. I can say something to the extent of "Wow, I can't believe how fast Prince of Persia sold at the stores here" but that dosen't make overall sales high, now does it?Quote:

Why isn't Intel making and selling me 20 ghz processors yet? It's the future! It's inevitable! They need to stop fighting it; it's not going away.Quote:

Besides, establishing yourself early in a new, fledging market is key to future success... I would think. Especially when everyone knows it's gonna be huge in the not-to-distance future. Nintendo's refusal to invest in it now could cost them in a few years when everyone's playing games online.
Yep, at least Sony and MS push the envelope while Nintendo just keeps giving me the same crap I've been playing for years.Quote:

Sony, yes (eye toy, ICO etc.) but MS not as far as I can see. So far online play has added nothing with the exception of being able to play against human opponents more easily. IMO PC devs are pushing the envelope far more than console devs in the online field and offline.Quote:
