I'm surprised you didn't burn through SoTN. I started playing that game and just didn't stop. It wasn't tremendously long, and I had fun the whole way through. It's also one of the few games I still pull out occasionally just to blast my way through it (without being an item packrat - you wind up fighting with more interesting weapons, and at a lower level due to increased speed of progressive runs).
Yeah, it was an instant hit to me since it was pretty identical to Super Metroid, but my friend has absolutely nothing to play for the week, so why not. I suppose this pushes me to just buy my own Playstation sooner.

That bitch Kimah... such a cheap fucking turd if you have the Sommerswerd. Someone at the Project Aon forums ran the combat probability calculator on the battle (with the Sommerswerd), and the results were ridiculous - like a 2.9% chance of victory, with an average of 1 or 2 EP remaining, and that's assuming you rolled an inital combat skill of 19 and have all the CS-boosting items up to that point.Quote:

You can kill the Zakhan instantly with the Dagger of Vashna (by throwing it), but getting to the option requires you to be without the Sommerswerd, so if you want to go that route you'll need to leave it in safe keeping, bring the dagger, and avoid getting arrested.
Consider this, though - once you get the Sommerswerd, you get a massive CS bonus that lets you mop the floor with most enemies in the Kai/Magnakai series. I guess Dever thought he should throw in a few challenging combats for Sommerswerd wielders to make it less of a cakewalk, although he really flubbed the Kimah fight. That depends on your interpretation of the death rules. Actually, there are no death rules. Dever never made anything clear on the subject. If you want to play by pure logic, then if you die, you need to start over at book 1 with a brand new character. We had a thread about this at the Aon forums, and most said that they started the particular book over. That's the way I play. I guess you could also skip the book and go onto the next one, but you'd forefit your bonus discipline, higher rank, and any new items you get in the book.Quote:

Yes! Do just that. Book 11 is a gauntlet of pain as far as nasty combats go, so you'll be wise to stash all the Alether you can and save it for that adventure (espeically that +4 potion you can get in book 3). Same with Laumspur and other healing potions. On my most recent play-through, I pwned book 11 without dying, but only because I found all the Alether, Laumspur, Rendalim's Elixirs, etc. up to that point and saved them.Quote:

Seriously, especially since the Grand Master releases are the unabridged UK editions (which would otherwise cost a lot of money to get). I have all the US-released LW books except the Legends novels and the Magnamund Companion, and sometimes I consider ebaying it all, but I don't think I could bear to let go of them. Damn man, it's been years since I've seen any reference to these books. Once upon a time I owned damn near all of them. Good times, indeed. My memory of them doesn't seem to be as strong as yours, but then, I haven't read one since '95 or '96. Thanks for posting the link to that site though. I owe you one.

Played a bit of Mario & Luigi Superstars, and then discovered much to my dismay that my Tactics Advance saves seem to have been deleted :( Not too happy about that.
Still playing the hell out of World of Warcraft. This game needs to come out so more people can play it.

Yeah *cough* I realized it was Dave's copy, he'd left his GBA over since he (surprise!) wasn't actually playing games on it :P

Completed Way of the Samurai and Breath of Fire Dragon Quarter. Apparently completed Samurai just in time too, as the sequel is supposed to be out this month :)

I finished Illusion of Gaia a while ago. What a turd. A poorly translated turd with brain-clawing tedious dungeons and characters so awful that I prayed for that stupid fucking comet to hit the earth and destroy them all. Sadly (but good for me), the ebay fools will pay decent money for it.

I started a game in Mario RPG for like, the 7th time, and I'm actually making progress this go 'round. Having glanced at a FAQ for a few problems here and there, it's apparent that there's a ton of optional crap to discover in this game.
