The Pile of Shame Warpact

Weekend update, post your progress!

I managed to finish Oni3 and Riddick as well, which made me happy. I'm digging into some older PC titles that I hadn't finished, but I'm still treading water on my pile of shame.

I was away from home yesterday, so I spent some time playing a bunch of stuff on GBC. I finished Final Fantasy Legend. All in all, I think it's a superb effort for a first-generation handheld RPG. I enjoyed it a lot, partly because it was really short. Short RPGs are a good thing. This makes me want to re-buy FFL2. I had it several years ago but sold it, but I remember it being a lot better than the first.

I finsished Armed and Dangerous, in no small part thanks to the infinate ammo cheat. It's hard to fight those fucking zeplins without the right gun.

Edit: I also finished Crimson Skies just now. The ending was sub par imo. But the final fight was pretty good.

I remember really enjoying FFL2. It had some neat areas, and a lot of excellent music. I remember not liking the character/equipment system at all though... lot of annoyances there. Nasty last boss too iirc.

Didn't update last week, becaue I made no progress in anything. I finished Silent Hill 2 (PC) friday night. I got the ending where James drives his car into the lake to be with Maria. i realize there are multiple endings, but damn what a downer for my first time. That last boss was ridiculously easy. I hoarded shotgun and rifle ammo throughout the entire game, and all it took was about 20 rifle bullets to end it. I only got hit once during the entire thing. I really enjoyed the hell out of it, and I have to admit it creeped me out at certain points, like when your flashlight goes out, and you use the battery, or just the entire prison in general. I'm debating whether I want to jump right into 3, or wait a bit. I think I want to play something more action oriented first..

I beat Mario & Luigi for GBA today. The last quarter of the game was a complete pushover (except the final boss) thanks to Mushroom badges and the Thunder strike/Chopper Bros. moves. Most of the bosses went down in one hit. Even with the lack of difficulty, the game was wicked fun from beginning to end and I loved all the little unique challenges along the way (like making the clothes with the paint bombs), and the Zelda-ish feel to the major areas. If I were to introduce someone to jRPGs, I think this one would be perfect.

Speaking of Zelda, Oracle of Ages is next on my plate. I've made it a little ways into the game with a password from Seasons, but I think I'm just going to start over without the various password goodies.

Finished Oracle of Ages today. Awesome game, enough said. It has also come to my attention that neither my girlfriend nor I have any idea where our Golden Sun cart is, and without going into a lot of details, that probably means it's gone for good. Oh well, I didn't really care for the game anyway.

Hmm. I still haven't finished M&L either, something about it isn't grabbing me, though I think the combat is cute. Odd also, since I'm really looking forward to PM2

Finished Silent Hill 3 (PC) about 2 weeks ago, just never got to updating my progress. I was going to wait until I finished Champions of Norrath, but I still have a little ways to go. i wasn't expecting the game to be short compared to the first two, but I view that as a good thing, since there was zero padding in it. Playing it freaked me out, because whenever I play on my computer, I use my headphones so I don't disturb my father. I can honestly say that there were times I had to take them off, especially in the hospital, because of the frantic music. I don't know when I'll get Silent Hill 4, but it won't be right away, as I think playing 3 of them in a row would kill the series for me.

I finished everything but Elemental Gimmick Gear and Grandia 2 since the last time I posted. Hall of fame is now at 2.
